After reading Madame & Yves on broadsheet, I was intrigued to try their almond croissant. Before visiting this patisserie, Gumnet in Bowral had the best almond croissant, but now I can say Madame & Yves has the best almond/ raspberry almond croissant I’ve ever tasted. The pastry perfect, non-oily, sweetness is just right and the almond filling inside is awesome. Apart from croissants, the quiche Lorraine and chicken pie are delicious also. Desserts, the eclairs such as earl grey & salted caramel are a must try. The one that stood out for me and their signature dessert is the Yuzu roll, it’s not big, it’s pricey, but the flavours are beautiful especially the Yuzu cream. Location, if you don’t live around Coast between Bondi beach and maroubra then getting to this Madame & Yves is going to be a long drive. Price, the croissants range between $6-7.50, eclairs $7-8, tarts $7-7.50, piece of cake $7-9, Yuzu roll $11.50 are some of the prices you will expect, but from a world class pastry chef these prices are absolutely reasonable. Seating, there isn’t a lot! 3 small tables internally and 3 tables on the footpath. It also isn’t pram friendly because the shop itself is tiny, pram parking available directly outside on the footpath. Madame & Yves is relatively new, it’s already got a good reputation and attracting customers especially in Clovelly. It’s a long drive for people living far, while great for the local community and around. Highly recommended this place whether you eat-in or takeaway, because the pastries and desserts are...
Read moreI usually don’t like to leave a negative review on any of my posts but this was a huge disappointment. As it’s been on my list for a while and I’ve been wanting to try their pastries for so long due to their Instagram page looking amazing!! @madameandyves 2/10
We arrived to this bakery around 9am expecting a lot of pastries on offer but there was nothing special or any of what they advertise on their page 😳
We got Almond and raspberry croissant and Ferraro chocolate croissant
I’m not a huge fan of almond in general (I know, it’s shocking😅 but yeah I don’t enjoy the texture) But I gotta say this croissant had an amazing flavour, the flavour of the raspberry kinda overpower the almond which made the flavour quiet enjoyable for me. BUT THE PASTRY DOUGH is what was disappointing…… the croissant it self was super oily soft and soggy, sloppy and flat as you can see… and we arrived early in the morning so I wasn’t expecting that at all.
The Ferrero was ok, nothing special it was a croissant filled with plain chocolate and dipped in chocolate and nuts, it didn’t contain anything from the Ferrero texture that I was expecting 🥲 pastry was also oily but at less not flat as the almond raspberry.
Coffee was the only thing good at...
Read moreIn Clovelly, a new patisserie, boulangerie and gelateria has opened in a cute little spot not far from the beach.
It was opened by world renowned and award winning pastry chef Yves Scherrer who is an experienced pastry chef that has worked all around the world. He began in France but has also worked in Canada and the USA. In Australia he’s worked at Kisume, Sake, Sokyo, Est., Ananas and Le Cordon Bleu to name a few. He brings this knowledge and experience to his own pastry store.
There’s beautiful signature eclairs, tarts, cakes and some savoury options too. The buttery croissants and breads are amazing, and flavours will be seen to change. On our visit, in addition to the original croissant, they had pain au chocolate, almond croissants and a raspberry filled one.
We enjoyed a lovely vegan vegetable terrine, as well as a beef bourguignon pie and coffee!
You can also buy larger cakes and tarts to take away for parties.
There’s also house made gelato!
We like the decor with its white tiling and touches of pastel pink, and all the patisserie goods visible in the class counter.
It is a great place to enjoy a treat and the service was...
