Review for Woodbine McDonald’s
Tonight my family, who are already struggling financially, scraped together money to treat themselves after a long, stressful day with kids in the car. Instead of going home to cook, they thought they’d enjoy some takeaway. They spent around $78 for three Happy Meals, some burgers, and nuggets, specifically asking for large meals.
On the way home, they went to have a drink – and that’s when they realised there were no drinks or chips in the order. After a stressful day, of course they didn’t check every bag straight away. They turned back to the store, explained the situation, and the first thing offered was an apple pie. That’s insulting.
I was on the phone the entire time and I clearly heard my family order meals. When they questioned why there were no drinks or chips, the manager admitted it wasn’t entered as meals in the system – because the worker hadn’t put it through properly. That is not my family’s fault. Yet instead of fixing it, the manager argued with them and acted as if they were in the wrong.
When I raised the fact that all the food was now cold, the manager said they would remake the meals – but only if my sister handed back the food she was already eating. She was starving, hadn’t eaten all day, and they made her put her half-eaten meal back in the bag before they would remake anything. Why couldn’t they let her finish eating while making new ones? Forcing a hungry customer to hand over food they’ve already started eating is not only unfair but unhygienic.
And after all of that, the manager still made them pay an extra $12 for the “difference,” even though the mistake was entirely McDonald’s fault. With the cost of living so high, not many families can even afford takeaway. When they do treat themselves, they deserve to actually get what they ordered – not to waste petrol driving back, find their food cold, and then be told they must pay more. To then be offered a $2 apple pie for the inconvenience is beyond disgusting.
As someone who worked in fast food, including McDonald’s, for many years, I know that the customer is always right and mistakes should be fixed properly with an apology – not with arguments, grins, and accusations of wanting “free food.” The lack of basic customer service here is shocking.
To top it off, when I tried calling the store to follow up, the number doesn’t even work. That is beyond frustrating.
I’m extremely disappointed in Woodbine McDonald’s. Judging by the other reviews here, this is not an isolated issue. Staff are not listening to customers, mistakes are being made, and managers are not handling things with professionalism or respect.
I will be taking this further and I expect someone higher up to contact me. If nothing is done, I’ll be coming into the store this week to speak to...
Read moreStill waiting for Maccas to get back to me after using their feedback form a week ago. Made a very simple request on 1 burger, they however gave me the incorrect thing, we let them know and they asked us to pull over to the side till they re made it. They re made the exact same mistake, we told them again, they returned with the exact same burger I had just sent back and had simply wiped off an ingredient with the sauce still soaked all through the bun. This is illegal within itself due to allergies, they are required to make a fresh one, no one wants to die because of the staffs laziness. Sent the burger back again telling them the issue and telling them the order. 5 times in a row they just kept ignoring it and giving the same burger. For my 6th attempt I went into McDonald’s myself, asked for the manager, showed her the falling apart burger and explained to her what had been ordered and how I keep being given the incorrect thing. It had been 30mins at this point so all the other meals had gone cold too. With no apologies, no acknowledgement and just an annoyed look more so at me than her incompetent staff, she said she would make the whole meal fresh. She came over, put the bag on her counter and very unhappily said “there is a feedback form in there too” and just walked off. I’m so sorry I inconvenience your manager and staff last Thursday night due to their incapability of making a burger minus 2 things on it. The “new meals” were so cold and undercooked. As this had been the 6th attempt to get a simple meal, I gave up and just left. Only 1 member of the staff had been polite. On initially ordering, the girl at the speaker was incredibly rude, we thought she would be the worst of our ordering experience, the kind staff member had even said she knew exactly who it was and implied her manner was already known. Another of the staff members response when we requested how we can make a complaint was “I don’t know, I just work here”, that same staff member was laughing when I walked into McDonald’s and quickly hid when she spotted me. The fact the manager was so rude herself was the ultimate icing on the cake. Looking forward to hearing back from McDonald’s about this epic mess of an experience. I might add, this isn’t the first time either. I am anaphylaxis to egg and at breakfast I explain the severe allergy and request my meal minus the egg (on the very rare occasion I go to McDonald’s). On a couple of these occasions they have given me egg and I have explained the situation, they simply take the egg off and hand it back, I can still see egg in it, and even if I didn’t, this could kill me. How is the staff going to feel if they kill someone because they can’t follow instruction or food and safety protocols. The staff needs some...
Read moreHealth Hazard. Went to the drive through after picking my son up from working late. The order was cold by the time we got home, which is literally 2 minutes away. There was no salt on the fries either. I ordered their chicken wings, new product, BIG MISTAKE! Do not order these if you value your existence on Earth. I got them as someone gave me one of the "Chicken Ribs" from Hungry Jacks (funny, I never knew chickens had ribs!!!!!) and I was impressed for a fast food place. I mistakenly though they may be similar. Big mistake. They were undercooked for a start, so dangerous to eat. The coating was hard, not crunchy, like they had been sitting around under a heat lamp. It was like biting into a mouthful of lukewarm cooking oil, both in flavour and overall experience. They were swimming in grease under the coating, so much so that after 1 wing I felt slightly nauseated and couldn't have any more. I offered some of the meat, removed from the bone, to one of the dogs but he wouldn't eat it. That has got to be the biggest Red Flag in the history of Reg Flags as this dog will eat anything. This is not the 1st time I have had a bad experience here and I had stopped going because of this. I only went as my son was hungry and at 10pm there are not a lot of choices. My advice is avoid the place and if you want a fast-food burger go to Hungry Jacks where they probably are better. It has also...
