I have stopped here to buy a snack or a coffee a few times over the years, my most recent visit was late in the afternoon on a rainy Sunday. Despite arriving around half an hour before their advertised closing time, the friendly staff member happily made a cup of coffee for me, which I very much appreciated. The coffee was nice and hot, with a smooth, milky texture. I also purchased a cheese and spinach quiche, and a caramel tart, both these items were enjoyable and tasted fresh.
Located a mere stone's-throw from Mortdale railway station (really, you could actually throw a stone from the West-side station exit, across the narrow Cook Lane, and easily hit the building, but please don't do it !) this business offers bread, various cakes and tarts, meat pies, coffee, softdrinks and Bahn Mi. The dining area consists of a wooden bench and two metal stools. Service has always been friendly and efficient in my experience. While the exterior of the shop could certainly do with a bit of a refresh, the interior has always been clean...
Read moreThis is one of the best local bakeries I have had the pleasure to know. Whenever I'm catching a train from Mortdale or just visiting, I always stop by to have a look at their displays or buy a banh mi for lunch. They provide a versatile variety of homemade and fresh foods such as meat pies, cake slices, pastries, coffees and bread. I am a big fan of their dessert pies like apple cinnamon or cherry with their substantial filling and marvellous, sweet pastry that crumbles in your mouth and sends you floating to cloud nine. You'll take the same blissful flight when you bite into their croissants, a flaky, buttery pastry precedes the multilayered puff of airy sweetness within. Most famously, their pork rolls/bahn mis are a bang for your buck and are absolutely delicious, packed full of diverse flavours such as piquant, pickled carrots, smooth, meaty pate and nutritious pork slices. Not to mention their lovely staff who always serve you warmly and promptly without fail. Come support your local, neighbourly Vietnamese bakery and...
Read moreEdit: I have taken back my 5 star review. Today 06/09/2024 I ordered a chicken schnitzel roll and a pie. The roll had hard clumps of beef not CHICKEN and the pie was overcooked to the point the meat on the inside was hard and burnt. This was not fresh pies but pies that had not been sold the day before.
The food was horrible! I had to do a refund on doordash and I threw the food out. I can’t believe it. The first meal I got from them was sensational.
NEVER AGAIN! YUCK
Old review:
Holy moly! The bacon and egg roll was the freshest breakfast I’ve ever eaten and they really pack in the food. The coffee tasted good too! The roll must of just been baked this morning. It was divine.
Totally impressed with the quality...
