If there's a reason why this place keeps drawing me back, it's two bricks that form a successful foundation for them: Convenience and gustatory universality. As there are no other Indian restaurants in the area, Bombay Grill has become a go-to place for delectable butter chicken and Indian indulgences served right at the counter. I've read some bitter reviews here scrutinising the level of authenticity in the food but, as an non-Indian, the flavours seem akin to the comfort and richness found in Indian cuisine. The $12 lunch special was our saving grace that broke the monotony of home-cooked lockdown food with aromatic spices and curries. Three choices of curry from an enticing selection, rice and fresh naan is value for money and bountiful for your belly. The pillowy, heavenly texture of the well-seasoned naan was the beginning of a long love relationship between naan bread and me. My recommendations for curries are the enlivening and tropical mango chicken or the chicken tikka masala with its signature smoky char. Besides their chicken dishes, it is difficult to differentiate between the curries as they lack any specialty with varying degrees of spiciness and sweetness. I have also tried their cheese and garlic naan and was sorely disappointed with the absence of garlic. The cheese can also be overwhelming sweet, perhaps it is paneer? Regardless, the meats in all of the curries are beautifully tender that will make you savour each rich, juicy bite. Although I cannot testify to its food delivery, getting and eating takeaway from the restaurant is a guaranteed smooth, sumptuous and satisfying process. The only concern I have is the restaurant's hygiene, there are always flies that hang around the hot bar, landing on the utensils and food. It doesn't sit well with me to order the premade food sometimes so...
Read moreWe'd never tried this place before but we ordered through a delivery service (Menulog or Delivery Hero, I can't remember) and after an hour I had to call the restaurant to ask how our order was going. An Indian gentleman answered the phone and tried to resolve the situation but unfortunately his English wasn't good enough to understand the questions we were asking.
After a minute or two another person came on the line and said that he was sorry and that it would be out the door within 15 minutes and promptly hung up the phone. I found that a bit rude and definitely not good customer service.
The food did arrive at the door within that time but at that point I was worried about the quality compared to the service I'd received. Fortunately I was more than pleasantly surprised. We had ordered a Butter Chicken and a Lamb Korma and both my partner and I were very impressed with the quality.
Not all restaurants are perfect and this place definitely did not create a good first impression but they did make up for it with their food. Even reheated the next day the quality stayed the same.
I did notice that someone else mentioned that their food was very late and the service they received was less than satisfactory and that review was 10 months ago so it's a shame that they are unaware of how to improve.
In saying that though I will give them another chance, if the food quality is consistent than so be it but if the quality of customer service stays the same then either I'll have to say something or just not order from them again. With another Indian Restaurant across the road that's been there for years with equally if not better food, they need to pick up all aspects of their game to compete.
It's worth a try, just expect some delays if you...
Read moreAn Indian delight was not here tonight. Truly awful service, consistence mistakes are made very little assistance is provided or any sort of an apology for the errors.
Below is the meal i received tonight, to say i was disappointed would be a mild understatement. After my order was incorrectly ruined i took what was salvageable and found this hot steaming mess. Instead of getting delicious butter chicken i received this.
I'm not one to make references to poor hygiene but this unappetizing product was presented as premium Indian food. Not only was there no chicken in my butter chicken there appeared to be under cooked lumps of what i believe was once a potato.
The "freshly cooked" naan was nothing more then a fine film of what i could describe as doughy toilet paper.
My hosts assured me that this was one of the best restaurants in the area, needless to say i was horrified at the servings produced.
I will not be encouraging people to attend this restaurant until such time, as they improve their service and...
