Firehouse Grill — Restaurant in Sydney

First & foremost this place was one of 3 places not on Yelp ... i couldn't beleive it!! The expensive hardware store or the vet next door was in Yelp before this place hahah obviously peoples mind set isn't in the right place lol

This steak house is tucked away in an almost one way back street of Mortdale :)! Its close to the pub which only locals stick too & is also really close to the well known Mortdale Bike shed. People probably not aware of this place cause its only open from 12pm on fridays & Saturdays and every other day is open fron 5pm.

As soon as you walk into the restaurant you notice all the old school Fire station memorabilia hung up all over the walls :)!! So the the name Fire house Grill is the perfect name for this place :).

Was here at the restaurant for a mother's day dinner with the family to beat the hustle & bustle rush of the real mothers day tomorrow :)!!

We ordered a mixed entrée with, ribs off the bone, tasty pork belly with a creamy slaw topping, king prawns with a crumbed cheese coating, haloumi cheese, salad with 2 dipping sauces (garlic & tzatziki). For dinner majority had fillet mignone with chips salad and dipping sauce of your choice, i had a oven roasted duck with a tasty salad and mum had the braised beef cheek which tasted a bit over cooked and dry byt all the other maibs were very nice :)!!

For dessert 2 people had the mango creme Bruleé which was outstanding, my sister had a perfection sticky date pudding which is never served big enough to satisfy your needs lol & i had a freesh fruit & Cheese platter with a peppermint tea.. the perfect tasty end to a nice dinner night out with the family :)!!

Really enjoyed dining at this place.. been here about 4 times now and would recommend it to anyone i know .. and must mention again that while waiting for your food to come out and if you weren't conversing it was really nice to stare around the restaurant & study all the fire house memorabilia they...

We had a disappointing evening at firehouse grill last night. We thought we would give it another go, because our previous experience wasn’t great, but it’s a local institution, so it seemed like maybe we had just been unlucky.

But last night reaffirmed our previous opinion. First, we ordered two serves of bruschetta and garlic sourdough to munch on, and only one bruschetta was delivered. It took fifteen minutes for the second to arrive, by which time everyone else had finished.

We then had the kids meals delivered randomly to the table, without every other meal. The kids weren’t impressed with the texture and taste of their schnitzels and I tried them to work out why. It seems out they had the consistency of old style chicken nuggets, slightly rubbery and maybe were either cooked from frozen or were reconstituted chicken, not straight chicken breast.

Then our meals…well. Three were delivered and then the final one took 15 minutes. They comped the final meal, but it was just annoying. It should be standard practice to serve the whole table at once. I had barramundi. It was ok, not amazing, the macadamia crust was oddly on the skin the potatoes were drowned in butter, like an oil slick on the plate.My husbands ribs were tender, but not much smokey flavour covered in a bbq glaze. The other dishes: lamb shanks and paella were good- but not amazing.

Will I go back? Probably not. It’s very expensive for what you get, especially when many of the local pubs and clubs offer food of the same standard, but without the price tag.

The table service was virtually nonexistent. We got water at the start, but no more was ever brought back, we waited a good half hour to order and it felt like everything about the service was hard work.

Dinner reservation at 6pm tonight. They sat us outside, I questioned why outside as it's cold and not inside and was told only space available yet there were so many available tables inside with no reservation signs on them, why didn't they say this at time booking as I wouldn't have booked this establishment Very unprofessional! Then when we questioned the menu isn't the menu on their website, the owner lady said they haven't gotten around to changing the menu. We said we have decided to go and when we walked off we heard the the owner told another outdoor couple "oh there unhappy about the menu." .. why would someone talk about our conversation to others, simply rude.

We decided not to spend our hard earned money in this place and will never be back. Terrible experience from the start.

To yr response: You seem to be a horrible person .. Telling yr outdoor table customer our conversation.. as for staff, there was only one lady staffer and I asked her why the menu I have differs from the menu on your website, that's all the conversation I had with this one staffer.

Also should mention, you asked my husband whether anyone had told us about your specials for the night, to which he replied no, noone did.

My advice to you to better your business - take the reviews from an unhappy customer and fix the issues at your establishment so that you can get better reviews. Inform a customer when they are sitting outside and if it is ok with them, don't just dump them out there.
