I am from the Gold Coast and was in Sydney for two days, due to Cyclone Alfred, I got stuck and had to book a room at Mortdale Hotel. Thankfully, the check-in staff were very helpful, and I checked in around 8:00 PM NSW time on March 7, 2025, for a two-night stay. My first night went well, and I had no issues. However, on March 8, 2025, I requested if the bed in my room could be split since I had a friend joining me for the next night. I had already mentioned in my booking that the room was for two adults. Since the bed was movable, I asked if it could be split, but I was told it couldn’t be done. At this point, the manager, Cory or Rory (not sure of the exact name), became extremely rude and condescending. Instead of offering a solution, he told me, "Sleep in the same bed, I don't care, we are fully booked." I was shocked by his attitude, but I calmly asked if there was another room I could move to, where I’d even be willing to help with the cleaning since I had already paid for two nights. Instead of responding, he suddenly dashed off from the scene, leaving me hanging there, not knowing if he would come back. This was really, really rude and completely unprofessional. The check-in staff were great, but the manager’s behavior ruined my stay. Hospitality should be about assisting guests, not treating them with disrespect. I genuinely wanted to leave, but my only alternative was the airport lounge. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their customer service, especially when dealing with guests who are simply looking for...
Read moreI’m writing to raise a serious concern regarding the behaviour of your security staff on duty during the early hours of Monday, 30th June (Sunday night), at around 3:15 AM.
The security guard on duty acted in a highly inappropriate and discriminatory manner toward my group, clearly treating us unfairly for being international guests. He did not give us any notice or request to leave the premises—as any responsible staff member should. Had he simply asked us to leave, we would have done so respectfully and without issue.
Instead, he took photos of our group without our knowledge or consent, which is a clear violation of our privacy and completely unacceptable. This unprofessional and offensive conduct was not only disrespectful but also felt racially motivated.
I strongly urge you to review this incident and take appropriate action. Someone with such behaviour should not be employed in a role that involves dealing with the public. Security staff must be trained to handle situations with professionalism, fairness, and respect not hostility and discrimination.
Please ensure this is looked into seriously, and that action is taken to prevent this from happening to anyone else...
Read moreFall off the train close, this pub has a great atmosphere, a very wide mix of people and a happy vibe that kept our night going strong.
One staff member picked up on a person in our group as being drunk, and kept asking if we were buying drinks for him when we came to the bar. They believed he should be cut off. He was tipsy at best, and was simply distracted by a bet he was watching on his phone, however the close observation and concern for our safety was appreciated and after explaining, all went back to normal.
This is the first pub I have seen do this, and I greatly appreciate it.
Some renovations are underway and I expect the update will be interesting (don't want to give away too much), hopefully this will peak your interest enough to take a look?
All the staff, were friendly, happy, communicating well and have made me want to return
I will update if I learn about...
