The Barra — Restaurant in Sydney

Just your local fish and chips shop that always has lines that stretch along the street. I have wondered about the popularity of the place and now that I've tried the food there, they have all the right to get people knocking on their front door. I was craving some nostalgic potato scallops and selling for only 90 cents, their potato scallops were pulling at my heartstrings. It is freshly fried with a crispy, golden exterior containing soft, indulgent potato. An amazing slice of childhood! The same marvellous taste can be said for their fish and chips. I ordered a lunch deal of perch fillets, chips and a choice of salad. They have a great range of salads that distinguishes it from many other fish and chip shops. My pear rocket salad was well-balanced with the sweetness of the pear pairing with the bitter rocket. The chips were alright but the crumbed perch was something to talk about. The crumb is a gift from heaven, a tasty crunch that gives the tender perch a new dimension. It had me eating the leftover crumbs with no regrets. One criticism would be the waiting times for the food seeing that you get quick service at the cashier. Instead of walking past, take the time to see the brilliance of an Australian classic. Foods great! I would would definitely recommend it. I consider myself to be a regular customer as I work close by. Normal order is the salmon with the Moroccan salad and chips. However, as summer is kicking in, I'm tryin to make some gains and shred ;). I asked for the salmon and the salad but this time I felt that the hot chips will take me two steps back in my goals. So I asked if I could NOT have chips and have a little more salad instead. My request was denied and was asked to pay more for another scoop of salad 😭

I believe that a small serving of parsley, chicpeas, capsicum, couscous and dressing isn't going to break the bank - keep in mind chips are not included. I've considered the external factors: Woolworths' low prices Coles "prices are down" campaign

My gains will now be reliant on the seafood shop across the road. Thanks for the experience team. Foods amazing, especially the salmon 👌🏾, but my journey to getting a set of washboard abs will have to rest on someone else's grill plate. 5 starts...

This new fish n chip eat in / takeaway is definitely the best I have ever had thus far and I have been to many places in Sydney since I moved from NZ and we know good fish n chups lol. Love the name "The Barra" such a down to earth Aussie name no name could be better for their shop. The fish so fresh it falls apart in your mouth, the burgers are great, the homemade sauce delish and when u ask for a small chips u actually get a small chips & not too much that u cant eat. Less is more :) they also started putting your names to your order which is a great way to get to know your customers and know the local community supporting them. I have jumped a couple fish n chip shops now hoping to find something better and I have this place will be my regular takeaway from now on. I love what they did to the place its quite a classy restaurant and I would definitely be bringing my family here to eat. I could go on and on and I have only been there twice.
