Nelson's Nest — Restaurant in Sydney

Had a late breakfast here recently on a Saturday morning. they weren't at all busy but service was very slow. staff stood around disinterested chatting to people. No problem as we were in no hurry but tea and coffee drunk about 20 mins before breakfast arrived. +We both had the big breakfasts. and all items except eggs were good quality and very tasty Bacon and eggs were both stone cold. Bacon was tasty though. I asked for my eggs fried and turned over. I just wanted the m flipped but they had yolks broken and were 'well done'. Maybe I should have been clearer. My partner ordered poached eggs which were absolutely hard boiled.and cold of course.. We couldn't eat them but no-one seemed concerned. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Big breakfast plates wouldn't fit opposite each other on tiny tables. This could easily have and should have been been * 5 stars with just a bit of care an effort. We just visited this cafe for brunch with high expectations given the reviews, but we're disappointed by the poor service and long wait times. Initially we were told they had run out of the eggs benny so we re-ordered. The food, whilst tasty, took 30 minutes to arrive and when it did mine came with some burnt foil in it. The lady in charge was very apologetic and gave us a muffin to make up for it. Joseph, one of the waitstaff was extremely slow at his job (a liability in what could be a fantastic cafe) and had poor customer service skills.

Such a lovely little cafe! Stopped by for a quick lunch on my way to an appointment in the area and was so pleased. The service was excellent (the woman behind the counter was super friendly and obviously knew the locals) and the food was delicious. As others have said, the menu isn't HUGE, but honestly I thought it was pretty expansive for the size of the cafe. There are three small tables inside and a few larger ones outside, but the two areas flow into each other nicely, so it feels open and breezy.
