Sourdough Bread Rolls
Rustic hand cut sourdough bread rolls. Wood fired fresh in Apollonia every morning. Made up of a mix of sustainable and organic, unbleached stoneground white and heritage flour from our partners at Wholegrain Milling Co in Gunnedah.
Gluten Free Life Changing Bread
Our gluten free bread is seriously life changing! It is perfect as a quick snack, for cheeseboards or for lunch topped with your favourites! We love this loaf and its versatility. It is a flourless loaf made up of a mix of nuts and seeds, activated over night and baked fresh each morning.
Signature Fig Leaf
Wood fired fresh in Apollonia every morning, our Signature Fig Leaf is made up of a mix of sustainable and organic, unbleached stoneground white and heritage flour from our partners at Wholegrain Milling Co in Gunnedah and baked with a fig leaf on top. When Kimmy, the creator and owner of Cherry Moon, was living in the Blue Mountains she had a beautiful fig tree in her backyard. One day, she knew she would do something special with these beautiful leaves. She was baking in as many wood fired ovens she could get her hands on, zipping around the mountains on her motorbike with 25kg bags of flour loaded on the back. She was preparing and honing her craft, dreaming of one day opening a store front. Kimmy popped home to grab something for her bread and heard a calling from the sun, shining through onto the leaves of the fig tree in her backyard. She knew then that she had to try baking a fig leaf onto her bread. The next morning’s bake, when she opened the oven door, the aroma was sweet and floral. She knew she was onto something! She dreamed of recreating this fig leaf sourdough daily in her shop so people could be reminded of their connection to nature through food … and now she does! Due to the nature of this special product, stock is limited. Every year, we handpick fig leaves from our friends at Reiby Farm on the Hawkesbury and bank enough to get us through the winter.

These guys have great food, and I try to stop by when I can. Don’t think I’ll be going again though. Showed up at about 3 minutes to 8 this morning, began ordering. The guy behind the counter is taking my order, and without warning , stops midway and demands I step back because they only open at 8. While he asks aggressively, I am understanding and immediately stop ordering: I wouldn’t to serve people for longer than I had to either! Then he starts BRINGING DOWN THE SHUTTER on me, as I stand there, without warning. Opens it up about 40 seconds later to take the rest of my order. By that point, I’m quite upset and debating whether to leave it. Ended up paying for the bread I ordered (before the shutter went down) and went, though I had come to get other stuff too (was not willing to give them any more of my money by this point). I completely understand wanting to be firm with an opening time, but when I’m not a regular, being polite, and clearly just not aware of the opening time, I think the treatment I got was unreasonable, and made me really quite upset. If you can bring the shutter down that quickly, not sure why you don’t just leave it down if you don’t want people trying to order! Sorry Cherry Moon, your delicious food isn’t worth that! The coffee was never...

Sunday's damage comes courtesy of this new farm, ferment and feast spot on the block. A lot of places similar to this oversell and underwhelm, unfortunately, and especially when it's not democratic, both in price and accessibility. Thankfully, CMGS nails it, offering a simple menu that highlights their sterling—and arguably the best in town IMO—sourdough with a pick-your-own sides type menu. A few other things available as well that they do very well (and they know it); house baked foccacia sandwiches, savoury tarts, pies and galettes, a range of sweets that would make your mother's mother blush, not to mention all the condiments, pickles, teas and grains that are signature in building the dishes on the menu. They're highly inventive and when things sell out, something new hits the display case. The breads have a smokey accenture which could very well become this part-bakery's signature. The texture is chewy and glutinous in body with a crunchy exterior that is never to crusty or conversely tough. High recommendations! Also see their house made ice cream and tea, they're both ridiculous. And get in early otherwise you'll be waiting, especially on weekends or heck between Weds and Suns—the only days the bread...

The coffee was good, service not so good. I work up the road…went to order coffee takeaway to be back at work at 11.30. There were two baristas on the machine and it was like watching a movie in slow motion. There was no sense of urgency and there should be an unwritten rule or some sort of inference that if it’s TAKE AWAY, chances are the customer needs to get away FAST so maybe move a little faster. It happened after 11am so it wasn’t that busy (the seats and tables were not full to capacity). There were two customers waiting for their coffee before my 4 colleagues. The wait for mine after my colleagues (and I was the next coffee order) was over 5 mins. I actually had to tell the barista I was in a rush to get back to work and that I was literally after my colleagues who had received their coffees 5 mins earlier. If there were no customers yeah, work in slow mo but if there are customers hovering around the doorway, move faster to get rid of them. What’s wrong with this generation of workers - no sense of awareness nor inference. A crowd may be good for business as passers by will think “it’s busy it must be good” but for customers waiting to take away, it’s not good especially when...

This wood fired centric bakery is definitely in my top 3 and it should be in yours as well! The authenticity and organic ambiance, as well as taste of their beautifully made products is like no other. Their use of baking in a wood fired oven is amazing in itself but on top of that, everything they do, perfectly reflects their inspiration of “old-school general stores spotted around Australia’s rural pockets”. The sausage roll with plum was perfectly savoury with a slight sweetness coming through. The pastry was flakey and buttery and an unexpected win as it’s definitely a unique flavour combo! The BLT focaccia… so yum!! I got mine toasted and it was perfect. Crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes and crunchy lettuce. The perfect BLT (period). Okay, this cinnamon scroll is the best I’ve had. A classic cinnamon scroll, it was SOOOO soft and pillowy, perfect amount of cinnamon and that icing on top was just UGH YUM. I’d have a whole tray to myself if I could.

Lovely morning spent enjoying the tasty treats of the very cool Cherry Moon general store. This is a busy cafe as there are lots of customers coming for the amazing selection of bread..and their incredible cakes.. but thankfully you can sit in (or outside) and enjoy a slice of the same cakes! Staff are lovely and friendly and there is plenty of free 1 or 2 hour parking nearby. Coffee and tea selection is expansive and well made so it's the perfect start to the day. We had the (apparently 4th best in Sydney) croissant, pain au chocolate and the plum pie. I'd definitely put the croissant higher, so delicate and buttery, I only had a taste, can't do dairy like I want to! The pie with a creme fraiche topping was amazing! Almond chai was really good too
