Brenda MacPhail Firstly can I just say I generally don't particularly like Lebanese/Mediterranean cuisine, BUT I met up with a big group for lunch last week and I found that all the staff were friendly, helpful and obliging. Such a great family atmosphere with a real vibe to it which met the needs of all ages. Suzanne the owner was so amazing with a warm welcoming smile and greeting that you felt relaxed soaking up the beautiful aromas, she had provided the most delicious variety of foods, AND who thought I'd thoroughly enjoy all the different dishes. I almost filled up on the entree dishes, thank goodness I was able to have enough room for the main dishes, such a variety!! the dishes just kept on coming each dish freshly prepared, I was more than pleasantly surprised which doesn't do credit, no wonder this cafe is so great and popular. I would highly recommend this place to visit and experience all that it offers making it a favorite . Yes I will definitely be coming back for sure!! Suzanne you and your staff had really made a celebration so so special that evan strangers felt comfortable and joined in like family, you went above and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCafe on Johnson has new owners, since the last review on this site. I discovered this place 2 weeks ago and I have been back 10 times since then, no exaggeration. The food is amazing. The head chef Helen, is wonderful, fantastic cook and she just loves feeding people. She is like the Mediterranean mother I always wish I had. The food is a mix of normal cafe food,Lebanese and Moroccan but not the commercialised versions of these foods, the real thing. Helen makes the food with love, and presents it beautifully. It really is some of the best food I have ever had. Susanna who runs the floor is also a warm beautiful person who just makes you feel at home. The coffee is good, though I can only vouch for the long black, it is nice and strong with a good thick dark crema. For value it is the best in the area by far, the soups are huge very filling, come with 4 slices of sourdough and are only $10, can't beat it. I really shouldn't tell anyone about this place, because at the moment it is my little secret, but I can't keep it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was amazing. Our waiter had an amazing and friendly vibe. My friend and I got two sandwiches from the āon the goā menu and Iām sorry to say it wasnāt great. The description sounded fantastic: āTasmanian smoked salmon, feta cheese, sour dough, spinachā. The waiter said the sour dough was lightly toasted, it seemed untoasted and couldāve benefitted from being toasted. The bread was thick and very dry. A really sweet sort of onion chutney/jam was added that I donāt remember seeing in the description. It was lovely but didnāt work well with the other ingredients in my opinion. Parmesan cheese was also an unfortunate and unnecessary addition. Way too strong and ruined the subtle flavours of the feta and smoked salmon. My friend had a similar experience with his.
I havenāt tried anything else and Iām sure they have delicious items on their menu. All of their descriptions sound incredible. This sandwich was almost great. I hope to go back and try something else...
