We have been to the other 2 Nikaido’s and this is 2nd best out of the 3. We have to have to give Neutral Bay 1st spot as it’s our regular place and the people who work there are just so lovely and the Neutral Bay grills give a smoky flavor to the meat. Mascot has a new upgraded grill which technically isn’t a grill so we were a bit bummed out with that. Food was great. The portion sizes of the meat is MUCH bigger than the other 2 places. The wagyu was amazing. And the premium AYCE price is totally worth it. The ingredients were fresh and they were super quick to bring the orders out. The little robot was cute but not sure how necessary it is. Staff were all great. Friendly and welcoming. They were all very polite. Environment wise, we were lucky to get booths, but we definitely would have complained if we had gotten the middle communal table. Parking is terrible. The hotel parking is $15 for the night, but there is only 15 spots. So if it’s busy, or hotel guests have cars, they wouldn’t be able to park there. To find parking is quite tedious too - I mean it’s Mascot, so I guess it’s a given. The parking wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t raining! The restaurant itself is big and spacious. Not cramped or smoky at all - which is good. Overall, we will definitely be back. We are hanging for the super premium menu as that has a whole lot more wagyu which we are excited about. Oh! And they gave us little chocolates and a free drink coupon which was a...

The standouts of this place were: The superb quality of meat and side dishes An outstandingly attentive team of staff (and robot) Plenty of comfortable sofa seating Tongs that are easy to use

The moment we arrived, we noticed the floors quite sticky. Doesn’t affect food quality though. The idea of placing the dipping sauce bottles on the table is a great idea, if only each was labelled clearly. Although the grill was a little dirty from grease, the meat cooked perfectly on it. We arrived at 7:45 for a premium buffet ($85pp) - it’s not a huge deal that some items were missing from the touchscreen menu (ie. sold out), but would’ve appreciated if we were notified in advance. Hubby was disappointed that there was no cheesecake, which was listed on the Premium Buffet menu.

Note: The rice was nicely cooked also; just be careful that the portion on the sushi are massive (thus it will quickly fill you up).

We appreciated the fact that we were able to enjoy our full dining experience without feeling rushed, despite being the last ones out.

Verdict - thank you so much Nikaido Mascot! You definitely met our high expectations we had from the Neutral Bay branch. Will...

The staffs let us order without informing us that they will close soon and when the food arrived, they keep urging us to eat quickly. They also attempted to clearing our table while we were in the middle of our dinner.

If they can't even manage to take care of their customers at those times then they shouldn't allow any customers in, in the first place, or at least letting people know before they put in their orders so they can be well aware. They shouldn't assume everyone will know their closing or opening times especially when people go there for the very first time. Instead of letting people in, took their orders (even introduced us the huge expensive buffet sets that we didn't need and acted nicely) and earn extra cash before they closed and then ignored customers, rushing people eating and tried to clean up as fast as possible just so the staffs can go home on time. When we told the staffs about this issue, they were just nodding along without even care.

They should consider not allow new customers coming in an hour or more prior to their closing times. We could have gone to somewhere else nice if we knew that they were closing soon instead of got...

Supplied the delivery robot to this Japanese BBQ and found out they have very good review with their BBQ, decided to give it a try! Environment 4/5 Very easy to find if you’re taking train here, just 2 mins away from the train station. Internal is very spacious, even is crowded you have your own space. Just that it’s a bit smoky as it’s enclosed. Service 5/5 Very well serviced, good that it’s using self ordering so we ordered as we want and don’t have to call the server. We are served by the delivery robot as well! Glad to see everyone taking pictures and videos of the robot experience. Premium bbq package 5/5 I’m amazed by the ox tongue, not sure how many I had. Chicken cartilage is a new experience to have it with BBQ, perfect! Wagyu steak and calamari, too good to be real. Had some sashimi as well and the wasabi octopus. Will I come back again? 5/5 Definitely a yes! Recommendation - just go for the premium, top up a little bit but I guarantee definitely worth it for the wagyu

A disappointing dinner, (To be clear it was A La Carte NOT the buffet), ordered the fried chicken karage (barely any taste, it's OK), Lotus Root Chips (over cooked, so incredibly dry with no taste), Salmon Belly Sushi (was so so, the rice wasn't clamped tightly enough with the sashimi hence kept breaking when trying to eat), Hot Kitsume Udon (A bowl of super salty soy sauce, undrinkable, cheap seaweed, however the Udon noodles itself were good.) Serving sizes were great for the average person. Staff gave us rice first before any main dishes, so when the mains arrived the rice was already cold. Just little things count towards a good experience. If you can eat allot and want good value for the meat then suggest go for the buffet between $60-88 a head with 100minutes to eat as much.
