Rich and delicious broth with a variety of toppings like sausages, mushrooms, cabbages, fish and fish cakes available here. You are sold according to the weight of items you pick. After they cook what you choose, you also have a choice of 4 sauces available, peanut, garlic, pepper and chilli to alter the flavour to your liking. The only dish available here is malatang but the possible flavors available are almost limitless. I have had this dish twice and still cannot have enough of it. Even thought there is an air conditioner there, it's useless as the restaurant is open. Beware, it might get a little too hot if you make your malatang spicy in the summers...

I ordered the premium malatang through Uber Eats and was extremely disappointed. I don’t understand why they would ruin what should have been a delicious meal. I clearly selected beef, but there was absolutely no beef in the bowl. Instead, it was mostly just noodles with only two shrimp and two pieces of squid. For a $40 order, this was incredibly underwhelming. I used to love No.1 Malatang, but this experience really changed my opinion. Sadly, I won’t be ordering again anytime soon.

A more pertinent name would be No3 Malatang as it's the third best Malatang restaurant I've been to of three. The food wasn't as fresh as the other two with even the labels of what the food actually is falling off with a few of them. Not offering a proper spoon but a cardboard one usually reserved for takeaways another turn off. The decor also had all the charm of a Tijuana dive bar and won't return to any of their stores.

Where to start... had a date night with my girlfriend and that we were feeling for malatang so we came here to Burwood during dinner rush so it was fine and that it was a pretty full house. Either way, went to go and choose our food and went to go pay for our food while getting our buzzer and because theres no seating arrangements in terms of timing for when the next table is available, we would have been in a dilemma with our food coming although didnt get our food for at least half an hour while people that ordered 30 minutes after us got their food. After asking where i food was, they finally told us that it was at the back and that they called our number in mandorin as well which i am not well versed in mandorin to even comprehend the number system yet alone what was the point of the buzzer. Either way, i asked for a refund and instead got just them complaining why we dont want our cold food. We eventually got our refund with some attitude as well. I would stay clear of Eastwood store. Customer service was shocking and that the organisation of the store is just or worse. Instead for better food and organisation, i would...

The service was extremely rude and disappointing. When we were waiting for food that night, a HUGE cockroach was crawling on the floor, which made us immediately want to take out our food. We completely understand that the cockroach might come from outside however, when we were asking whether we can take away our food, the staff’s attitude was SO rude. Even when we asked her questions, she just ignored what we said and stayed silent.

As takeaway charged extra, we just asked whether we could waive it as we were planning to dine in until we saw the bug. She first rejected us and then just threw the coins to the table very rudely.

We were the ones to tell the staff there was a cockroach, no thank you no apologies. I don’t see this as the right way you treat customers. Will never visit this store again as the whole experience was just awful.

Highly recommend others to visit other restaurants as there are so many other options...
