RUDE, DISCRIMINATING AND VIOLENT FRONT STAFF!!!

There were a huge variety of amazing dishes and most waiters/waitresses were friendly and reasonable except for the waitress/door girl who was rude, discriminating and loud.

We were a group of 5 adults and 2 kids (group of 7) and she put us on a round 4 ppl table which is backed up on the wall when a table for 6 was available (the 7th person can sit at the end of a long table). I told the another waiter and waitress that the round table is not big enough and they both acknowledged the issue. I proceed with saying that the small table is not big enough and she said that the other group have made a booking and their lobsters were coming. I asked if the door girl was discriminating because we have kids, why is she not counting my kids in the head count. When the other waiter spoke to the door girl, she said she has another group of 8 that was queued after us needs that table. I had also asked why does the lobster make a difference and did she think because we didn’t order a more expensive dish, we don’t deserve the same service. Then she proceed to say that they made a booking when my MIL told them that she saw them putting their names down on the waiting list and caught her lying. After we sat down, she had to give us our order receipt at the table (I went to the toilet and was walking back), so I stood there to wait for her to move out of my way then she proceed to walk right into me and pushed me and hurt me.

Very bad service from the door girl which was rude, discriminating and violent. She doesn’t deserve a job and is bad...

First of all, I would like to say that I would have given 1 star, but I gave 2 because the food was actually enjoyable. The service, however, was not. The moment when we got the order form, the price were not included, and the server suggested us a dishes with noodles, some more ingredients, and one of lobster/oyster/etc. and advised us to choose lobster.

She then wrote the price on it, which we saw as 18.9. We thought the price was cheap, and reconfirm it again and she nod (probably her English listening skill was not that good). Overall, we enjoy the food, as the portion was big, and the lobster was tasty, until we came to pay and realize we got charged 78.9 for that. So of course we paid, and I believe the price was not that crazily expensive because we were given a whole big lobster and the taste satisfied us. However, we felt like we got cheated. Why?

Because we would not have chosen the dishes knowing the price would be that high for us (reasonable but not affordable for everybody). And we did not ask the server to actually suggest the dish, so the fact that she did it on her own will made us feel that she try to trick us to choose it on purpose. Maybe I was wrong, but that was how I feel, and I did not feel it for no reason. So if you guys want to visit the place, my suggestion is, do not make the same mistake as us and check the price in the menu again before ordering anything (we failed to check it again, partly our fault). I personally will never visit this place again and will not advise...

Incredible food. I had the black pepper wasabi pork, the squid ink noodles, the soup dumplings, the dry squid, prawn and mushroom pork ribs.

The pepper wasabi pork was easily my favourite and came out first, I wish I had taken my time with it as I was so hungry it disappeared. The spice of the pepper was almost tingly with the heat of wasabi. Very yum. The pork was on the bone and had good texture too.

The pork ribs were pretty incredible. The fat was as insubstantial as cotton candy and the meat was so soft. It surprisingly had very subtle flavour, I had to eat slowly and mindfully to really enjoy the spices, but the pork flavour was very strong and delicious.

The dumplings were likely my second favourite. Unfortunately some of them leaked their delicious soup before we got them off the paper, but I think that was more due to picking them up badly. The dumpling skin was silky smooth and aldente, the rich stock was hot but didn't burn your mouth even if you ate right away, the filling was refreshing in flavour and went so well with the rich stock.

Squid noodles omg squid noodles. I loved the flavour, I don't even like seafood very much but I think squid ink was destined to be made into these noodles. Not my favourite simply because I prefer pork. Also the callamari was quite chewy, which I don't like.

I can't even describe what the flavour is because it's so unique. The ultimate in salty savoury maybe.

My only regret is not trying...

Food's great. Extensive menu that never fails to deliver. And it comes out relatively quickly. The service is the downfall of this place. Some waitresses are rude. Perhaps they're stressed given the volume of customers, which often leads to the masses waiting outside the restaurant. When I was last there the waitresses were yelling at customers and each other, which took away from the joy of what was otherwise a delicious meal. At one point there was even a loud verbal face off between a group of customers and staff, which I thought was destined to end in fisty cuffs. Getting the attention of the staff is also near impossible after they've taken your order. It's not uncommon for them to walk past you on multiple occasions until you give up and just walk up to them to address your needs. From a layout perspective, the place feels cramped because it is. Maximum seats for maximum profit I guess, which unfortunately takes away from the atmosphere. Saying "Sorry" as you play human bumper cars, seems to be the easiest word to say as you twist and turn in a dance for one to navigate through the maze of close proximity chairs and tables. Is good food at the expense of an enjoyable experience worth it? Only you can answer that. Perhaps weekday lunch when it's quieter is the way to go. Or takeaway.

Mr. Stoneball offers a delightful variety of food choices, featuring different cuisines from China. The newly designed fusion dishes are a breath of fresh air, blending traditional flavors with modern twists. We started our meal with the ox tongue, served in a stone bowl. The ox tongue was incredibly juicy and tender, earning an 8 out of 10. Next, we were served squid ink seafood noodles, which were innovative and superb in taste—definitely a 9.5 out of 10. The xiaolongbao, while not as good as the Shanghainese or Taiwanese versions, were a bit too sticky and oily, meriting only a 5 out of 10. The maoshuewang, a traditional Sichuan dish with added seafood, was a hit with my parents despite the large portion. They finished it all, and I would give it an 8 out of 10. We also tried the sweet and sour pork with lychee, a Cantonese dish with a unique twist (7/10). The highlight for me was the fried prawns coated with salted egg yolk, which were very tasty and earned a solid 9 out of 10. Overall, I’m very happy with my dining experience at Mr. Stoneball. The creative and delicious fusion dishes, along with the wide variety of choices, make it a must-visit for anyone in Eastwood. Highly recommended!

I find some of the menu very experimental such as the coconut chicken soup. You either you like it or find it weird. We really enjoyed the crab mango japanese tart. It was a refreshing dish and was a good mix of savoury/sweet. The customer service can be improved, and management should pay attention. It was very chaotic, lots of slamming of dishes onto the table and rushing around with no regard of their surroundings. Most waiters were confused and are not working together as a team efficiently. When setting the table, the waiters were throwing together the dirty plates/cups into a box and dragging the chairs across the room. It was unnecessarily noisy like listening to chalk on a board and made everyone look up and watch them in disbelief. It made the dine in experience more of a takeaway spot than a restaurant.
