Ogalo — Restaurant in Sydney

I’ve been going to this o galo for coming on 20 years. I was very excited to see that they have returned after the refurbishment. Place looks good. 5 starts for atmosphere.

However I will not be returning. The staff were too fixated with the soccer match on the tv and eating leftovers to remember that they had a job to do.

After waiting for quite a while to receive my meal, I went and asked why it was taking so long. They didn’t even know what my order was. And in a rush picked up a burger that was sitting in the warm holding cabinet and gave it to me. So 1 star for service.

This burger wasn’t what I ordered. Plus it didn’t taste like the ogalo of yesterday. It was the blandest ogalo burger I’ve ever had. Didn’t even finish the meal. So 1 star for food.

When the boss is in, great service & great food. However today around 4pm I ordered half a chicken & small chips. I waited 10 minutes for my order on a dirty, oily, salt drenched seat bench while 6 flies hovered around the greasy floor littered with chips & chicken pieces, buzzing around the the unwiped tables & the overstuffed garbage bin with the crew busy watching the football game on tv. Two home deliveries were despatched & the order number after mine which was more involved were attended to until I asked what had happened that my order wasn't available yet. That terrible sarcastic line "Sorry about that" & a further 5 minutes had me out of there with double cooked chips & my chicken....

I have eaten here too many times to count over several years. Not like any other Ogalo and sits in a tier of their own at the top. Cannot recommend Ogalo Kensington enough, not only as a takeaway chicken and chip shop, but they have the best chicken burgers, The Hot Jumbo Burger a standout, great salads and they have their own snack pack. Right next to the light rail stop and has plenty of on street parking. This Ogalo beats any other chicken business in the Eastern suburbs by a mile and I am yet to find one that has the price, freshness and portion that competes. Here...
