If you saw good reviews of The New Hampton Hotel, that was based on the previous owners who owned the venue before July 2021. Since then, the venue has been occupied by new owners who are clearly not understanding to how the event industry works.

We originally booked the venue July 2021 prior to the Covid shutdowns with the old owners. When we went into lockdown, they put us down for a 12 month hold for a new date in July 2022. I contacted the venue 4 months before the event date in which they said that the date was avaliable. I attempted to make contact reguarly with the events manager who was utterly poor. There would be outstanding correspondence that I was chasing weeks at a time and phone calls I was making to be in touch. She kept communicating with myself to confirm some details and even took our deposit.

2 WEEKS before the event, another manager notified us on how we were double booked and that we would be unable to have the event in the Vault room...We had a costume party in which we clearly required a private room. Their alternative was to put us in the main bar area with some tape to seperate us from the public...When we were pushing back and questioning how this could happen, they were indiciating that it was our issue as we did not accept the area by the bar as an alternative.

Even when it came to recifiying the situation, they were not unprofessional and would just apologise without appropriate solutions. Clearly the event manager made a massive mistake however it was obvious they knew about the double up for a while without telling us 12 days until the event!

After we were notified, I just came back from a holiday and had to take a day off work to go around Sydney to urgently find a new venue...It took them also 4-5 days to issue us back the deposit when they stated they would do it 'immediately'.

If you came across these guys from TagVenue or alike, just a reminder that the good reviews were all based off the old owners. Please save yourself a headache and don't book your event here as this turned out to be such a...

This is a fantastic venue right at the top of the Cross. Just up from the corner of Darlinghurst Rd and Bayswater Rd, in Bayswater Rd. It was our first time performing at this venue and it really went off. More and more people came and danced and clapped. We had to do 3 encores. The Hotel has a few stairs up to the glass doors, and the bar is in the middle with very comfortable plush chairs and tables. Or there's comfy stools with backs to sit at higher tables. There is also a large smoking room off to the side, also with tables and comfortable seats. The trio I sing with is well known Kings Cross identity, Peter Head playing electric piano and vocals with Heather King and myself singing harmony and swapping lead songs. Peter is a prolific songwriter and has written songs about the well known area. King of The Cross, William Street Blues etc. I just love singing with Heather as we can adlib and stay in harmony. We are back there on Sundays this month, Peter does the first set solo and we join him for the last two sets. Kicks off at 3pm until 6pm. The sound was good too, and people commented they could hear everything we did and could distinguish our individual voices and how well we went together. So I was very happy with that. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the Staff at The New Hampton Hotel for hosting our Engagement Party on Saturday night 3rd August 2019. In particular, the services provided by Megan in organising the venue (The Vault), food and projector / screen were second to none.

We were blown away with the service provided to make our night such a success. Megan went above and beyond, and we are truly grateful. It was everything we could have hoped for. Most of our guests have made very positive comments about the grazing table, pizzas and the drinks service throughout the night. It is a credit to the New Hampton, and the owner is lucky to have such a professional and organised Events Manager. The communication in the lead up to the event was regular and accurate.

We highly recommend The New Hampton Hotel (& Megan) for anyone looking at an affordable function in the heart of Potts Point. 5 Stars.

We will be back for sure.
