Review: King’s Cross Hotel I recently had the chance to visit King’s Cross Hotel for a beer and a great view, and I must say—it was an amazing experience! This pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a great location that offers beautiful city views. I grabbed a seat near the window, sipped on a cold beer, and soaked in the relaxing vibe. What made this place stand out the most was the people—both the staff and fellow customers were incredibly friendly and lively. The place was filled with laughter and engaging conversations, making it feel like a familiar spot, even though it was my first time there. The drink selection was impressive, especially the craft beers, which were of great quality at reasonable prices. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, enjoy a good drink, and connect with friendly people, King’s Cross Hotel is definitely worth a visit! ⭐ Rating: 9/10 ✅ Pros: Great atmosphere, excellent drinks, friendly people ⚠️ Note: It can get quite busy on weekends, but that just adds to the fun!

5* for a place you don't really like? 5* for a non merivale pub? This is a solotel pub...who? Bruce Solomon is the quiet achiever of our pub scene...the sheaf and the Opera Bar are 2 of this countries biggest, and just 2 of his yuuuge stable. They have things in common. Efficiency on steroids, decent eats and something community orientated. Here, it's the kings cross theatre. It's a wonderful, small theatre company, showcasing our best new talent. Go there! Also contributing to the 5* review was this unexpectedly excellent spinach Dahl, rich with curry leaves and great complexity. The paratha bread was flaky and in good shape. The ability to add stuff, in this case a perfectly boiled egg, has started me thinking this annoying order via app from your table thing has legs. Thanks Bruce. I still really don't like this place, and you should serve food for as long as you serve booze, but the plusses really work.

Security at door starts off openly hostile saying I look 15 then says “take another photo” when I took no photo of him originally. Accuses me of “having drinks” and looking “extremely tired”. Thinks my ID is fishy and says “I don’t look right”. When I DO ask for his ID card on his sleeve he says he can’t let me take a photo when I can tell he’s being discriminatory. I’m a visiting my cousins in Sydney from the States and they come to this location often. Will definitely be having them not come back. Great during the day but terrible at night. Stay clear folks

Dear KXH, To management, bartenders, security, kitchen, every single one of you. Having been in the area for a few years, I tend to call this venue home, for many reasons. The A-class service, the lovely smiles and greetings upon arrival, the wonderful choice of music (at times), although I do miss the jukebox. Call me your number one fan.

We are living in a peculiar era and KXH has done an exquisite job to battle this war, firstly being at the top of the game with health and safety for all staff and customers, introducing contactless service straight to your designated table by simply scanning a code, so innovative and simple.

Sports, the joy it brings me to see the project unfold on a major event, whether its Friday night footy or Sunday afternoon UFC, always eventful, never been let down, quality all round sound system and display.

One thing I do miss are the pool tables, if I had one wish it'd be to bring pool back to life at the Kings Cross Hotel, even a cheeky pool comp would be nice to see. Many things do make me happy on a day to day basis, the quality of the food is sensational. I miss the old steak sandwich with some high grade baked potatoes, although the menu is evolving and it only gets better, Tuesday parmi specials are sometimes too hard to choose from all too good sometimes I want them all.

How could I forget the iconic Rooftop. As of recent there has been some major changes and I can sure say that I am not in the slightest disappointed, Tiki vibe, A1 themed cocktails, lovely new furniture, doesn't get much better.

Every person I have brought to the KXH has been impressed, I am looking forward for whats to come, in fact I cant wait.

Thank you for your constant respect and top class service. To each and every one of you of the KXH family, you have...

Last night my friends and I arrived at the Kings Cross Hotel to enter the club at 1:30am 13/10/24. At the entrance, the security guard let me through without checking my bag. He also let 3 other friends through. When my 4th friend showed his ID, the security guard asked to check his handbag. My friend moved to open his bag to check, when the security guard said “don’t worry about it I don’t need to check your bag” and refused entry. My friend asked why he was denied entry and the security guard said it was because he was intoxicated to which my friend explained in perfectly formed sentences that he was sober. The security then said it was because he was “going to be intoxicated after he entered the club” which was unreasonable. I then went to the security guard myself and asked him what the issue was. He said it was because my friend was “being a smartass”. I explained that my friend was not intoxicated and willing to show the contents of his handbag. The security said no and when I asked why he thought it was fair to refuse someone entry over their perceived attitude and he told me his word was final. My friend is more on the feminine side, wearing make up as a man and this felt quite targeted as everyone else was allowed entry and I was allowed without a bag check at all. It is in my opinion that the security denied entry due to some homophobia under the pretences of contradictory excuses. This is a serious issue and I warn any queer person to be cautious when thinking of entering this...
