Went to Preach on Easter Sun at about and they were getting pumped!!! The place looks great, so we were happy to be there. We wanted to order coffee and stood patiently in front of the espresso machine waiting to order. The barista asked if were paying cash or card and whether we were dining in our taking away as card payments & dine-in orders needed to be made inside and we were asked to take a seat, so we did. We could only find three seats available, but there were four of us so we decided to get t/away coffee instead & got up to order at the espresso machine as according to the barista t/away coffee could be ordered at the coffee machine & paid for with cash. A waitress approached at the coffee counter and asked if we had ordered & I answered we were wanting to order t/away coffee and that's when the barista asked if we had paid inside but VERY ABRUPTLY, RUDELY & like I was a naughty five 4 year old child in trouble!!! I responded "you said that at THIS counter we could order/away coffee and pay cash" but she turned her head and ignored me - TOTALLY and as though I was invisible. So I asked her again, "didn't you say we could order t/away coffee & pay cash here with you?" which she totally ignored again!!! In her defence she was getting totally smashed and there were about 10 order dockets in front of her and she was the only barista which was not good considering they were getting smashed, but rudeness and attitude is NEVER ok!! Needless to say, I was at a TOTAL loss at the rudeness and we walked off and will NEVER be back!! I can understand if there had been a misunderstanding (which I don't believe there was) but her attitude was so disgusting!! And to think that such a person was the front/welcoming face of the...
Read moreGot there on sunday morning. I needed a table for 12. I was told by the man it would be a wait because they need to organise it, so they will call me. They took my number down and told me approximately the wait would be 20-30 minutes. Me being understanding I went down to the beach and gave them a FULL HOUR before going back to see what happened (obviously I recieved no call by then). Then I was told another 5 minutes and our tables will be sorted. Called my family to walk to the place. We get there and they are just pushing people in (couples or group of 4 etc). The man pretends he didnt see me. Stays inside for another 10 minutes then comes out and says oh it will take a while longer because they need to wait for people to finish and they need to organise tables. I told him thats what you said an hour and a half a go. Then he responds with ‘yeh I know but yeh’. So I tell him, next time just tell me straight away you cannot accomodate such a large group and I would have understood and went elsewhere so I think its hard for you so cancel my booking request. Then he looks at me and says ok thank you then walks away. No sorry no nothing. I felt humiliated infront of my guests and I had to look for another breakfast place. Thankfully Gabby’s Cafe was able to accomodate us instantly and we had a wonderful time and the food was great.
Very disappointed with...
Read moreOne of the worst cafes in Sydney! I would give it zero stars if I could. Staff were disinterested and looked like they did not want to be there. Had no urgency or care in anything they were doing - cafe was not even busy at the time we were there. Decor was old and worn, every single picture frame in that cafe was crooked. While waiting at the door for a staff member ignored us and did not even acknowledge us while we waited, I had to go and ask the girl at the back who was polishing cutlery. Waiting 15 minutes for coffee (ridiculous when the cafe was not even busy) and then once the coffee arrived they then tell us they have no orange juice and did not offer an alternative. Coffee was also rubbish. Waiting another 20 minutes for food and when it arrived it was stone cold. The food looked great but we could not/did not eat it. We spoke to the staff member and explained our poor service and experience who went to get the manager and this took some time, so we ended up walking out. We also heard another tables around us complaining of the wait times and quality of the service and food.
This is a real shame as we came to this cafe years ago and it was great. Also really embarrassing that the owners and staff have no pride in the cafe, food, coffee or service when this is in such an iconic place in the world - it has so much potential. DO...
