Pretty bad! Kids food. Just tasted of oil. I was really “hangry” and still couldn’t waste my appetite. Calamari and chips were ordered. It was tasteless. The juice was fresh but not really tasty and quite small for $10
In fairness when I took the food back and complained I wasn’t charged but the lady tried to tell me the food was good and fresh after she tried one, she chucked it in the bin a little aggressively. Left the venue feeling very glad that we didn’t waste our appetite.
Update after owners rude reply: I’m aware you didn’t charge me. Did you read my review? I mentioned this. The fact that you can’t take constructive criticism says a lot about why your food was so bad.
Also, a little bit of advice, being rude on reviews is a really bad look for you.
You were busy. I didn’t take up extended time. I came in, said it was not very good (because it was tasteless oil rings and cheap shoestring fries) and left. I was never aggressive or rude, but yes you can write whatever you want. Did you expect me to just sit quiet and consume tasteless food?
Also we ordered the “crumbed calamari & chips” not “salt and pepper crumbed calamari” I can guarantee you there was so salt and pepper about that dish.
After you tried some, you even threw them out. Couldn’t have been too tasty. I also didn’t say you were aggressive, I said the way you chucked them in the bin was. In general, you really could have handled this review better from start to finish.
“Restaurants are sick of customers like me?” I don’t think that is the case. When we left your place we went down the road and had a great experience at a restaurant which served tasty food with happy service (and were just as busy, if not busier!).
My intentions are to never ruin a business but to be honest about my experience. I said you didn’t charge me. I wouldn’t have expected to be charged for food that we didn’t eat because it wasn’t worth the appetite.
Also, just for reference I’ll add this image here so people can visually see.
You’ll notice the following: They are not golden brown in colour, indicating they are over cooked.
They are not crispy looking. They are greasy looking.
With good crumbed calamari there should be signs of moisture or juiciness. It should be tender not dry or rubbery. Whilst hard to tell from this picture, I just thought I would let you know how calamari should be so you can attempt it again.
I’m not trying to ruin your business. (A few bad reviews won’t ruin a business that truely deserves to stand through quality food and service) But since you were so rude in your reply, I have no problem defending myself and adding more detail to this review. If your food is that bad and this obvious attitude comes along with it, you probably shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry.
I placed a review on google. I don’t deserve to be called petty, horrible and BS person. I’m not judging you as a person. I’m telling the story of my personal experience. Anybody who reads this review will read your reply and know...
Read moreMy partner and I had breakfast this morning, we originally intended to eat at another place but because they were booked out we decided to eat at Lamrock. the menu had typical breakfast dishes we eat, and we didn’t want to bother trying to find somewhere else. first impressions were bad from the start, the face of the business was an old woman who barely spoke English who’s sole job in life is to get arses in chairs at any cost. She had absolutely no people skills, or any skills as a waitress whatsoever. I observed her multiple times move other customers out of the way or take chairs off peoples tables without asking if they need them to make maximum room for more customers regardless of any consequences it made. the actual waitstaff we did have who took our orders and brought food were lovely and professional but that’s about the only positive. The food wasn’t bad but by no means was it anything special, an average price for an average meal to keep it short. The menu needs an update to make it standout from the thousands of other cafes who do a big brekky or a Benedict and think they have 2 brain cells to rub together.
We decided to leave quickly as to not get the führer ( old woman) buzzing around trying to kick us off the table like she was doing to others. The staff at the front counter who were preparing our bill seemed really robotic and timid, kind of like slaves after being whipped into submission, as soon as I’m assuming the owner walked over they immediately stopped serving us and started to go back to making drinks as if to distract the attention off them. we asked the owner if we could spilt our bill but with cash ( my partner and I pay our own with our own money), if they had said no then it wouldn’t have been a problem, they were busy but he agreed. As soon as I tried to explain what I wanted to pay for he immediately had piss poor attitude, had an aggressive tone to his voice and insisted I give him an amount I wanted to pay, not what I specifically owed. 20 minutes in that place and I can see its a fantastically situated cafe run by a family with no skills in hospitality. A real shame to say the least, to anyone wanting breakfast id say keep walking like we...
Read moreI am in Sydney with 3 of my friends for the weekend. We were excited to find this quaint cafe in Bondi and grab a bite to eat. We were greeted by a female worker who seemed cheerful and was willing to accommodate us despite a book launch occurring in a few hours. She advised she can serve both coffees and food. Side note: It was raining very heavily outside. We sat down to order food to then be told by a grumpy, cloudy, unhappy camper of a male worker that they are actually NOT serving food. When we tried to then order coffee with almond milk (due to allergy reasons), he advised they don’t stock that sort of milk and looked at my friend in a condescending manner - almost to show our request was unusual? Given there was not much they could provide us, we started to decide whether we should leave. The male worker walks off, then looks back and raises his arms in a frustrated manner, asking if we’re “gonna order or not?”. We decided to leave. We packed up the menus and placed them back where they belong, pushed our chairs in, and thanked them (out of kindness, because what was there to thank them for?). As we left, myself and my friend overhear the female worker say to the male worker, “Well what was the point of that? To dry off?”
That comment, alongside the condescending looks and the inability to provide the service they said they would - has left a sour taste in our mouths about this cafe.
Some advice for Lamrock Cafe: When you promise to provide a service, deliver. When you’re serving customers, smile. When you want to make snarky comments at your customers, wait till they leave.
Thank you for nothing! We will...
