Ram's Food Homebush West — Restaurant in Sydney

Why do I give this 5*... Well it's because it's exactly the way food 'isn't' typically done. The whole experience was awesome and different and unlike a western approach to food, so what do I mean..?

Well, the joint is located in an asian/indian area down an arcade in the middle of a strip of shops that looked typical of Chinatown Style area. Sorry, but not exactly appealing.

They operate out of this tiny shop which you could easily walk past, no extravagant signs or anything. They also only do take-away!

I came here on a Saturday morning, it opens at 11am, it was 11:05am and there was already a line 8 people long... That said something about the quality right there..

All the food looked amazing with window Style snack food to purchase as well as actual meals (in plastic containers.)

Service was good and well meant but they misheard me. They were happy to correct my order no fuss.

The food was indeed amazing and oh-my-gosh cheap! $8 and you can be filled... Don't buy extra rice, just get the special of the day or something, wait your 5 minutes and go to the nearby park and gorge yourself. Both dishes we got were great.

A short drive to Auburn botanical garden, grab a bench and enjoy!

Be happy, eat lots, spend little, go outside your comfort experience...

best Sri Lankan take away in this area, great Lankan food & service I have been coming here regularly for over 20 years, since the change of ownership, there is one lady who serves the customers, she has no customer services skills at all. She doesn't know how to communicate with customers. She is the one who opened the shop this morning, 23/04/2023. When I enquired price of the snacks as these items are not on the menu, she seemed like she was unhappy, this is not the way to deal with customers. On Friday 28th February 2025, I bought Mutton Rolls, Fish Patties and Masala Vadais. I was very disappointed with the taste and texture of the Mutton Rolls which have changed very much for the worst. The Fish Patties's texture of the pastry was so thin, when you lifted it up to the mouth, it broke into pieces, the taste however was good. I usually buy these products and they are tasty, but are no longer like before I spent $86.00 to purchase Stringhoppers, hodi, Mutton Curry and Red Pol Sambol. The Pol sambol was extremely dry, as if dessicated coconut was used. There was no taste of fresh coconut. Once again I was very disappointed. I will no longer buy these specified products ever again.
