Red Rooster Ermington — Restaurant in Sydney

My first time trying this place and can't believe I wasted money on a crappy meal.

Rippa box - was fine except the chicken inside the rippa roll was undercooked and chewy. Couldn't eat it.

3 piece satistfryer - pineapple fritter was fine, lightly battered and still crispy along with the pineapple crunchiness and juiciness. Fried chicken were crispy, but it could be better. It's crispy and dry, rather than crispy and juicy and tender.

Garlic bread - it was only luke warm. (Between warm and cold)

Service from staffs were friendly, which is a good thing. But they can barely handle the pressure when more customers came in. I know it's tricky, and difficult to handle, the staffs still tried their best. 2-3 girls there were quite pretty, but they seemed stressed out, especially when a customer's orders were mixed, along with drive thru orders and delivery orders. I know how challenging and hard it is as I used to work at a restaurant where one time I was all by myself handling customer's orders, receiving phone calls, having to deal with kitchen prep and ALSO the deep frying and cooking. What I handled was ALOT more pressure than dealing with fast food kitchen and front counter. So I understand.

I wouldn't say that this red rooster is worse one I ever had. But they need to do better.

Only major con at this red rooster is similar to the red rooster in Panania. NO AMENITIES!!!

And staffs were so busy then even forgot to put in souviettes or hand towel or even a spoon for when customers might need it for the mash and gravy.

Visited on the afternoon of 5/1/25 via the drive-through. Ordered the $10 "mega value" box and a chicken roll with gravy. I was explicitly told that they "aren't allowed to add gravy" to a roll and that they can serve a rooster roll with gravy on the side. I explained that a rooster roll has mayonnaise on it and that it wouldn't be a viable choice as my mother doesn't eat mayonnaise.

I requested to speak to the manager and was then told that they had stopped selling chicken and gravy rolls a long time ago. I told her that I bought one recently from Red Rooster at Wentworthville a month ago. She then said that she could provide a different kind of roll with roast chicken on it and gravy on the side. I was charged $15 for a roll with chicken and gravy, albeit a very small amount which is ludicrous as a few shops up is Portico Chicken, their rolls are $7.00 each and decent serving (1/4 chicken per roll).

The $10 "mega box" was lacking, cold petrified nuggets, old tasting chicken tenders, and cold chips. The hot piece of fried chicken provided was hot.

The chicken and gravy roll consisted of a tiny roll with a small handful of chicken and a small tub of gravy on the side. The chicken itself was hot and tasty.

Over all very poor customer service, spent nearly 10 minutes being talked down to like a stupid person. Also, I dont know about this ridiculous rule where they are "not allowed to add gravy to a roll." Why in God's name is a restaurant that is famous for roast chicken, gravy and chicken rolls/wraps can not serve a roll with roast...

Careless and unprofessional. Summer Hill RR is FAR more competent than this Ermington branch.

Went there at night and was the only one waiting to be served. Despite all five of the young ladies staring at me twice while on duty, received NO assurance I would be served soon. Waited almost five minutes until one of them came and took my order. Before that, I had a good long time to observe the kitchen. The floor was visibly wet and it was only around 7pm. Strange, as I've been to other RRs and never saw such a wet floor. I wondered if it was safe for them. When my food was done I immediately asked for the reciept and was told it would take an additional 5 minutes to process and that the manager would have to be called.

For a receipt. What was the occasion? Sure, I can await.

The staff looked unenthusiastic at such a normal request. A few minutes (not five more like 2) later my receipt came - no thank you or apology. I actually waited MUCH longer to be served.

Upon arriving home I noticed they had also severely skimped on the box of large chips. Check out the included photo. I was to recieve a large chips, not an effing half portion🤬!

RR Ermington you fail on so many fronts it's like watching bad comedy. I strongly suggest you observe your branch at summer Hill - much more efficient. If RR Ermington was my first experience with RR I'd be sworn off the entire...
