Four of us ate here on a Sunday evening. Sat outside and started with eating some charred edamame beans. These were smokey and charred which was a great start to the evening. The dishes came out one by one which was great as the tables were small, which gave us an opportunity to slowly eat. The food obtained some good qualities and had a slight twist to traditional Japanese dishes. Some were a hit, and some were a miss (for my tastebuds, at least). One of dishes had mango which brightened up the sitting. The Karage chicken was a must have. We had to order another serving once we first tasted it. Unfortunatley the serving sizes were inconsistent. We were a table of 4 and a lot of the dishes were a serving size of 6 and and 5. I wish the staff mentioned this upon us ordering. Overall the experience was okay. I would order completely different dishes again if I were to come except would or double of the karage.

Great mix of modern Japanese cuisine. The menu is surprising and delicious. 🤤 The tempura mushrooms and the scallops are to die for!! All in all amazing evening. It's a sharing type restaurant, so we ordered 5 smaller dishes and 1 bigger plate. My only comment (and I can't believe this is a big negative) is that all the dishes came very quickly. For dining experience it could be a bit more relaxed. We sat outside which was very comfortable with the heating. I would recommend booking to reserve a table if you prefer to sit inside. Tip: they have nice happy hour margaritas until 7 PM.

This place is such a gem! I hope they increase their opening hours and days. We had drinks and dinner here last night ($10 margs from 5.30-7). We didn’t have a booking and we’re seated right away. The food is Japanese fusion with lots of raw and cooked options. Really delicious. The place was slightly understaffed - like everywhere lately. The owner/manager was very friendly and the place had a great atmosphere with music. Many people outside brought their dogs along too which was nice. Would definitely come back!

Planned night with my grand parents in Bondi, RND was the spot we picked.

Food never disappoints - spot on, kudos to the kitchen.

HOWEVER, the service was a nightmare. Specifically focused on the manager (older guy without the apron, casual shirt).

I specifically asked for us to start with cocktails and then have the food. Food arrived 15min before anything else, big confusion to why that was... Cocktails were amazing. We had barely touched our starters before mains were out.

The table is small, so it was quickly jammed packed.

Second round of disappointment and bad service from the manager. We were enjoying our saké and he pro-actively starts pouring it off in our already full glasses for the sake of finishing it off, pouring it everywhere in process. Come on man, really?! We are capable of serving ourselves.

Finally, we pay the bill, 15% surcharge without notice...

Conscious it's not all constructive feedback here, but for a trendy and modern venue, you'd expect better service.

Happy to provide further feedback and explanation to my rating.

Thanks, Tom

P.S the young server was lovely, patient, and super self-aware. The manager needs to change his service...

Possibly one of the most disappointing Japanese meals I have ever had. Sushi train is better…. Presentation is great taste and texture is a let down. It’s like someone who works in a cafe is trying to creat a Japanese menu and has no idea what they are doing. The sashimi was cut wrong, thick & was so hard it was pretty much crunchy. Definitely did not taste fresh and was very fishy. Flavours did not kick a punch and seems to fall flat in every dish. I have been wanting to go here for a year and to finally get the chance and to have it be one of the worst I’ve been to was such a...
