I had a blast during the ‘Discover Bondi guided beach & coastal walking tour’ with Marty Williams from LETS GO SURFING.

Marty Williams is the Coaching Director at Let’s Go Surfing in Bondi and loves working at the beach. He is also one of the most dedicated and funny tour guides ever.

During our walk across the beach, Marty shared stories of this iconic Sydney beach community. Did you know that Bondi means the sound of waves breaking on a beach? This is one of the many facts that I learned from Martin.

As a member of The Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club, Martin has access to this historic building where I was able to see a large collection of images, trophies, and life-saving equipment from the last 110 years. We visited the Surfcraft storage where Martin even allowed me to wear his yellow and red outfit for a photo. This club is recognized as the oldest surf lifesaving club in the world, established on the 21st of February 1907. It is an Australian icon and holds an indelible position in Australian history.

I also decided to challenge myself and try to do some surfing on Bondi Beach. I Joined a group surf lesson fun and safe two-hour beginner session. I was able to learn all the surf basics including paddling, catching waves, and standing. The team provided all the necessary equipment and instructions.

So, I squeezed myself into a full-length wetsuit and wet out there in the middle of a cold and rainy day. The waves were so strong. I did not quite anticipate the physical strength it takes to surf. It was a challenge. The experience was phenomenal, I will come back in the summertime for more lessons.

Next time you visit Bondi Beach make sure to book a walking tour and a surfing lesson with "Let's Go Surfing" highly...

My partner and I just had a surf lesson with Let’s Go Surfing, and the entire experience was absolutely fantastic. As first-time surfers, we felt incredibly safe and supported throughout the session. This is definitely the company to go with if you’re trying surfing for the first time and are in Bondi.

The instructors were welcoming, friendly, and always had big smiles on their faces. They put a lot of effort into ensuring everyone felt comfortable, even if it was their first time in the water. While out on the waves, it was clear that they were completely in control, and they were great at giving tips and helping us get started.

Overall, the experience was just amazing, and I can wholeheartedly recommend Let’s Go Surfing to anyone wanting to try surfing for the first time. Whether you’re feeling a bit nervous or just excited to give it a go, this is the perfect...

I had the best time doing a 2 beginner's surfing session! All of the staff were so lovely and laid back. Our instructor, Max, was excellent. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and he got everyone's goals for the lesson beforehand and helped us all achieve them! He kept things fun the whole time with plenty of laughs and he was super encouraging - you could tell he was genuinely ecstatic to see us reaching out goals and catching waves! He made sure that everyone got plenty of help and guidance but also let us do our own thing once we were in the groove, letting us catch our own waves and still giving us feedback and guidance from afar. I have already booked in for another lesson this weekend with my partner and I can't wait 😍

Such a great experience and I already feel like my skills have greatly improved after just one lesson!...

First 2 days were good and the kids got a lot out of them. However, weather turned ugly on the third day. For the sake of those like my grandkids who bought a 3 day lesson I feel we should have been offered an alternate day as the following day the weather was much better. At the start of the 3 days I said to the coach that the 3 rd day was going to be bad weather but did not get asked if I wanted another day which we could have easily taken. Kids had to deal with high winds and a very sloppy ocean, the last day really wasn’t worth the effort even though the instructor tried his best. Having said that the lessons were well run and all the instructors were nice.

I had no surfing experience but had a fantastic time at the beautiful Bondi Beach this past week. I managed to stand up on the board for more than a few seconds by the end of the lessons! I took three two hours lessons with respectively Joey, Maria and Ben. Each instructor had their own style and were equally helpful. Loved Joey’s positivity, Maria’s thorough instructions and Ben’s detailed, technical pointers. Thanks for running such awesome surf classes! (p.s. Bondi was much less crowded for my two weekday lessons compared to my Saturday lesson, but it was still conducive to beginners learning on Saturday)
