San Churro Top Ryde — Restaurant in Sydney

Went to San Churro last night with my partner for some dessert amid late-night shopping.

When we arrived (9:35 PM), we were spoiled for choice of dirty, unkept tables. Despite having three staff on, and only 2-3 tables occupied, it seems no one had realised almost every table had spilled chocolate or dirty plates/cups.

We were not greeted or even acknowledged upon entering, and, once we finally found an almost clean table, I had to retrieve the spray and wipe from the counter myself, and wipe down the table.

We placed our order at 9:39 PM - two hot chocolates, a croissant, a mini churros snack pack and a scoop of gelato. By the time we had placed our order, we were the only occupied table.

By 10:00 PM, only our hot chocolates had reached the table. By 10:05 PM, the mini churros snack pack. By 10:10 PM (over thirty minutes after our order was placed), the croissant and single scoop of gelato. Not once did a staff member offer an apology for the delay. The barista (although having burnt the milk) did let me know one of the hot chocolates was scorching hot (and he was right) and to be careful. There was no awareness or acknowledgement by the staff that we had just spent $50 and waited thirty minutes for simple desserts.

The only credit I can give is to the female staff member working last night, who offered us some napkins at my request, after she realised the front counter had no napkins available.

Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any care for the tidiness or presentation of the store. The staff don't seem to care about customer service or representing the San Churro brand. Next time, I'll find somewhere else in the centre or simply go to Baskin Robbins,...

Since opening day, San Churro TOP RYDE has become my families GOTO destination for dessert. Right away, the presentation of the Cafe is absolutely gorgeous. Such a fun atmosphere and STUNNING colour way across all their products. I specifically love their cups and dipping trays, enjoy that they have them for sale too! Staff are incredibly coherent and kind. Clever to be located besides Timezone so that you can enjoy some desserts then go play in the arcade!

The menu consists of a large variety of regular and Chocolate filled churros, waffles and a delicious selection of drinks. The choice of chocolate dip with your churros is also incredibly large, after trying all the flavours my personal favourites are white chocolate and Creme brulee.

One of the biggest flaws about San Churro is the minimal amount of cost effective items on the menu. If you're visiting (especially with friends or family), you're going to have to spend ALOT. Food is incredibly filling however.

This is a long story, but I ate at this branch with a group of friends on a Sunday evening about two weeks ago. Had an incident where the wait staff spilled freshly made hot chocolate all over my coat and arm as he was serving it. I received minor burns and my coat was completely ruined by the chocolate stains. Staff just gave me a used tea towel to pat down the mess. I had to go to the bathroom to run my arm under cold water. Only when I returned did they offer some burn cream. Staff told me to email the branch email with the incident and details. It's been two weeks and I still haven't got a response. I called the branch about a week ago and they said the only way to reach their managers was through that same email. Honestly the whole evening was a mess even without this incident as the staff kept confusing our orders and bringing out drinks we didn't even order. Not one to complain but this was very poor customer service...
