Friends of mine suggested I visit given the hospitable nature of the owners, so I decided to give it a go. Evgeny and his wife were warm and welcoming, showcasing hospitality from the outset. We had a great conversation about coffee, family and food. They served filter coffee (stitch šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡¹ batch brew) which was balanced and delightful to sip on . I ordered a gluten free Avacado smash which was absolutely delicious too. Drop on by if you are looking for a warm coffee and food experience. P. S check out the eclectic range of coffee books whilst waiting for your brew to arrive. James Hoffmanns world atlas definitely worth a read.

There’s a good reason why this cafe gets such high reviews. The food is genuinely delicious, coffee is great and the service even better. The staff was very friendly and there is a good friendly vibe within. High recommend the pulled pull pork burger which tasted the best (just wish there was more portion of the burger). The chicka chicka (chicken with feta) salad was delicious too. Power bowl was great too and relatively light. Overall a really good cafe and one that I would highly recommend. Should also add that there are some parking spots within the cafe so you don’t have to park along the main/busy road.

What an incredible first experience! Perfect service, attentive and genuine staff, mouthwatering food and amazing coffee. Warm space with a welcoming vibe. The staff were thoughtful and kindly offered to make me something special off-menu because of my allergies- I only regret being too mesmerised by my food to take a picture. It was so beautifully presented, and tasted just... the epitome of French toast, fresh fruit and ricotta, drizzled in salted caramel. All up, best cafe experience I've had in my life, would highly recommend. This is cafe sets a new standard for excellence.

I can't speak to the food as I haven't tried it, but if the coffee and everything surrounding it at this lovely friendly establishment is anything to go by, I have no doubt that the food is almost certainly similarly deserving of positive feedback. I have been struck by the memorably uncommonly genuine and enthusiastic warmth and relaxed professionalism of all the staff that I have had the pleasure of interacting with at SOL. I hope that this context paints a picture of anomalous excellence and authentically lovely smiles that are the status quo, and serves to only emphasise even more so how truly beautifully infectious the vibe and smile of the staff member in the olive green dress who was working today, it really brightened my day, and I truly wanted to give this compliment in person, but to my intense regret, social an anxiety got the better of me. Nonetheless, I could not let this all go unsaid. This place always leaves me with a happy heart and quality cup of coffee, which are truly worth more than the sum of their parts in lighting up one's day with positivity, regardless of whatever may have preceded visiting this cafe. Thanks to all the staff, please don't...

To say I'm so relieved to finally have a place of this calibre in this neighbourhood would be a gross understatement. After having spent a fair bit of time at Canterbury Hospital, it was annoying having to drive to get to a place that served decent food and coffee in the area. But alas, S.O.L came to the rescue!

Everything about this place - the food, the coffee, the service, the decor, is more akin to something you might find in trendy, foodie-centric locales closer to the city like Surry Hills - minus the pretentiousness.

As a vegan (in training) the menu offered several options without sacrificing flavor - the greenbowl came recommended by the amazing staff and was so delicious. That said, the non-vegan options also looked delectable (again, vegan in training).

They also take to coffee-making as more of an art form, which you can taste. And everything on their menu - including all of their baked goods on display, are made in-house daily. Even their ridiculously good peanut butter!

Overall 10/10...

We welcomed our daughter across the road in hospital and this cafe was a life saver for people like us that love good coffee and food. This cafe is the total package, friendly owners/staff, great food and coffee.

Given our hospital stint ended up 5 days longer than expected, we managed to try a range of food, all come highly recommended and can be catered for gluten intolerance: bacon and egg roll, mango and chicken salad, chicka-chicka salad and power bowl.

Even most of the sweets are gluten free, some of the best inhouse baked muffins we ever had, and the brownie and banana bread (with or without chocolate chips but not gluten free) were delicious as well.

The almond iced coffee and hot matcha latte were also right up there and can compete with any other inner west establishment.

So whether you're in hospital next door or nearby, this cafe is well worth a visit.

Thank you to the owners for making our grim and uncertain days in hospital better and nourishing us with delicious...
