I’ve been meaning to try this place for quite some time since moving to the area as I always see people lining up outside for dinner. I was hoping to call this place my local sushi joint but boy, was I extremely disappointed for so many reasons and even somewhat disgusted. Firstly, the tables and seats were not clean, we had ‘used’ chopsticks set up at our seats (as in dirty wooden chopsticks put back in the paper cover) the high chair was absolutely filthy that no matter how many wet wipes I used to clean, the dirt would. Not. Stop. We ordered chicken teriyaki which was around $10 but basically got a piece of chicken about 1/3 of the size of a standard chicken breast but not only that, it was cut along the grain so we got long stringy dry pieces. The portion of udon was also extremely small for what it cost. And while we were dining, it looked like the boss was telling off one of the employees behind the counter so that wasn’t pleasant either. Lastly the quality and selection of sushi was no good compared to what I know is available in other sushi places, including the Five Dock branch. I don’t understand why people line up here?! I wonder whether I went on a bad day but still, not really keen to go back...

Had the worst customer service from this Korean sushi restaurant.

First, a waitress splashed a water on my back while she was organising cleaned glasses behind me. Another waitress next to her saw it happen and was laughing, told the waitress who splashed the water on my back and laughed together instead of apologising immediately. I had to stare at the waitress in her eyes for few seconds until she finally realise that she should apologise, but she was still laughing. These waitresses obviously weren’t feeling sorry at all.

When we were leaving the counter, one of the same two waitresses pulled my wife’s seat hard without mentioning a word. My wife lost her balance and the same two waitresses were laughing at that. Seriously, they are the worst staff I’ve experienced.

Surprisingly, store manager was there but she either didn’t realise their terrible attitudes or simply had no clue about customer service as she didn’t do anything.

Giving two stars because the sushi quality were okay for a Korean sushi restaurant. This was only my third visit, but I’m glad their sushi is not worth coming back for after having such...

I go to this place all the time with my family, however tonight’s experience was a first. After enjoying all the usual plates we get, I ordered the pork gyoza (cooked from the kitchen). After waiting some time, it finally arrived, however at least 2/5 of them were still raw inside. I advised the staff, and said I would not be eating it and did not want anymore. To my absolute amazement, the staff argued with me that they had checked the gyoza and they were in-fact, cooked. I said the two I had eaten were, but the two I’d bitten into were not - and I would not be paying for it. Then they sent the chef out, to argue with me further that he believed it was cooked! With a $90 bill that I was happy to pay, I couldn’t believe they did this over $11.90! I stood my ground, and he was visibly annoyed as he put the rest of my order through for payment. Such poor customer service - I doubt I will return to the Gordon restaurant again. Beware - make sure you take photos if the meal isn’t right (I honestly didn’t think I had to, but...

Who doesn't enjoy a sushi train? This popular local is always busy with eat-in and takeaway customers. With a high turnover, the food is fresh with the sushi made in front of you and hot choices coming out regularly in small batches. In addition to the standard choices, there are always a few different / new combos to try. You can also order particular dishes if you want. This is our local go-to for a quick and easy dinner; nothing super fancy but we always leave satisfied. While there have been comments about the prices being on the expensive side, I don't think the prices are unreasonable in light of the ingredients being used and the current costs of running a business. They also have a loyalty card so you can collect points for a discount on your 10th visit.

Decent quality sushi but very overpriced. 😭 This is the 2022 edit. I have revised their 4 star rating to 3 stars. The quality of the sushi has gone downhill but the price remains very high. They also charge a 10% surcharge on Sundays now. This isn't unheard of but uncommon especially for a place with such low foot traffic. You'd think they'd want to encourage customers to come on the weekend. The cleanliness of the place needs improvement as well. Service in general is acceptable but a bit cold.

Rates 2.75/5 Owned by the same couple as sushi 2 go just across the aisle in gordon centre, maru offers its customers more choices than sushi 2 go on its conveyer belt. Being the only dine in sushi shop in the centre, you might have to wait a bit if you intend to eat in. The tempura udon (2/5) was petite so though it was not expensive ($10 or so), not a good value. The broth tasted like it came out of a bottle n the udon the supermarket variety. The sushi fared a wee better.
