I had a very disappointing and unpleasant experience at Taste of Egypt. I usually don’t write negative reviews, but what happened today truly deserves to be shared. From the moment we walked in, there was a strange smell inside the restaurant — not something you’d expect from a place that serves food. The overall atmosphere felt unclean and not well-maintained. However, the worst part was the behavior of the man who served us. He seemed to be Lebanese, and his attitude was extremely unprofessional and aggressive. When we asked simple questions about the menu or expressed our preferences, he responded in a loud, disrespectful tone, as if he was doing us a favor by even speaking to us. It felt like we were being shouted at instead of served — and we were paying customers, not getting anything for free. The way he treated us was unacceptable. A restaurant should offer hospitality, respect, and basic courtesy — none of which were present during our visit. The entire experience left us uncomfortable, disappointed, and honestly, a little angry. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are many better places in Bankstown where you’ll be treated with respect and enjoy a clean environment and good food. This was not one of them.

Disappointing Experience 😞 I recently visited Taste of Egypt in Bankstown, hoping to introduce a friend to the delights of Egyptian cuisine and culture. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. From the moment we were seated, the service was subpar. The waiter was not only inattentive but also quite rude. At one point, he began throwing the dishes onto our table, which was both alarming and unprofessional. To make matters worse, he started clearing our plates before we had even finished eating. Despite our protests, he insisted that we were done and took the food away. This experience was a stark contrast to my previous visit, where the service and food were excellent. It was particularly disappointing as I had brought a friend along to showcase the rich flavors and hospitality of Egyptian culture. Instead, we left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their service standards. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant to others.

Had a lovely time :) We ordered: > kebab, kufta & chicken as a recommendation from the owner. The chicken was the best part. > Egyptian lasagne was light and sweet. My friend and I both liked it > mahahie mixed which was monbar wrapped in cabbage or vine leaves (last one pictured. I personally loved the flavour of the vine leaves, but my friend preferred the cabbage) The owner/s were welcoming! We got to try an eggplant side dish which was delightful. Finally, we also decided to order dessert: Mahallabia and Basbousa. The mahallabia is a milky dessert that looks like a very white creme brûlée and tastes like creamy, condensed milk. The basbousa looks like a mini caramel slice and is VERY sweet but the sweetness is slightly offset by its crumbly texture Bother desserts are very delicious, though personally we both preferred the mahallabia and would definitely order it again. We really enjoyed this restaurant and know where to go now if we want some Egyptian cuisine ~ (BTW, it’s cash only!)

Food is delicious. Koushari is the best. The two stars is because the service. I am really disappointed. I feel they are stealing me. When I order something that cost 15$, the cashier tells me it is 17$????? It is not only once. I experience this a couple of times and everytime I made excuses for them because I love their food. But, unfortunately, I decided to stop going there and stop defending them in front of my friends because they also used to experience this. Today, I went and ordered one Koushari and Pepsi. The cashier told me the total is 14$ while it is written in front of me that Koushari is 10$. I asked him how much is the Koushari, he told me it is 10$. Ok, what about the drink? He told me it is 3$?????? So, the total is 13$ not 14$. He said Yes!!!!! He even did not apologize!!!!! It is not the first time but I decided to be the last because I won't go there after that. It is not about the money but I really feels bad when you feel that they are trying to steal you!!!! My advice if you want to go and try their food, just watch out and ask about the prices of everything you take and do the calculation yourself and ask for a receipt. I met the restaurant owner a couple of times and he seemed to be a nice man. I wish he could read this and make sure of the men he is hiring because he is losing a lot...

I tried the Koushari and it was good plus the Dwali and mixed plate. The problem is with the service I’m really disappointed once I check the reviews below still the same problem happening again and again which is adding extra amount to your bill!!! I was with other 3 families and the cashier did the same trick with all of us for my bill he added 4 dollars extra and the same amount for the 2nd family but the 3rd we warned them and they calculated by them self.

Once I asked for the 4$ he just said all of that for 4$!! and he used the same words with the other family.

It is not about the money but it is hurting me badly once I saw that guy stealing from us and definitely that thing happened many times before and he will do it again and again.

My advice if you want to go there the food is good but count your order’s price and double check the bill after all the cashier’s calculations.

I’m not sure if this guy is the owner or not and I hope not, but what I’m wounding why this thing “STEALING” still exist till now!!! My massage to the owner stop what your employees doing unless you are happy with what they are doing....
