Came here with 5 others for an end-of-year dinner. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, Salt & Pepper Squid, Vegetarian Stir-Fried Thai Ginger, King Prawn Thai Fried Rice, Pork Green Curry, Stir Fried Chicken Tamarind and Massaman Lamb Shank. We also had steamed rice on the side to accompany our dishes. Surprisingly, some of our dishes taste very similar to Chinese-style food (e.g. King Prawn Thai Fried Rice, Vegetarian Sir Fried Thai Ginger, Stir Fried Chicken Tamarind).
Our favourite was the King Prawn Thai Fried Rice. It was a very big serving with generous amounts of prawns and the classic delicious fried rice taste. The Chicken Pad Thai had an authentic Thai taste with a delicious sweet-savoury nut taste. However, it had quite a lot of raw spring onions which weren't to our liking. The Salt & Pepper Squid was excellent: crispy, salty, and tasty. The Vegetarian Stir-Fried Thai Ginger was very similar to a Chinese-style dish, with a good mix of different vegetables. The Pork Green Curry had the perfect spice level that added flavour, but was not overwhelming and went well with our rice. The Stir Fried Chicken Taramind was a nice addition, but flavour-wise was a little average. The Massaman Lamb Shank was quite good as well. The lamb was soft and tender, melting in your mouth, and the potatoes on the side were crispy and delicious. The sauce had the classic Massaman taste as well. However, we had to mix the sauce with the Lamb Shank, as the lamb by itself, isn't seasoned very much.
Service was a little slow, given we had a big group, and the chef is a one-man band (cooking, taking orders, answering the phone, etc.). However, he was very attentive and helpful, giving dish suggestions and made the fried rice extra big for our large group.
Overall, some dishes have a nice authentic Thai taste, others have a more Chinese-style twist. You cannot go wrong with the cheap prices for large servings. The whole group had more than enough to eat, with leftovers as well for a very affordable price. It is evident the chef cares about his customers and their dining experience! Give this place a try if you want affordable food and don't...
Read moreThe Thai you are going to get here is not just good quality, delicious, and good value for money; but it's also authentic. I'm over visiting Thai restaurants to eat 'Westernised' meals with excessive sweetness and MSG. Chai makes good Thai. Legit, it's good. He cooks it all himself. He makes it all himself. It's fresh. Also, his servings are massive (bigger than any other Thai in the local market). If you're reading this and considering ordering take away, have some pork belly chilli jam, Barra Chu Chi, with some Won Tons for an entree. If you're not feeling like trying something new, his pad see ew, chicken cashew nut and pad Thai are really legit. Get in on the secret. Chill out and have...
Read moreThe best experience here was the owner+chef. Cozy place with a person running his kitchen and resturant all by himself. Ordered stir fry, green curry and rice. The rice served in a hot pot, unique... The home made Thai coconut icecream and the Mango icecream was exceptionally good. Unfortunately the other food was a bit average. But could be our bad luck that there was a big order the chef was super busy with, which caused delay in serving the food, hence the icecream was complementary. Prices are resonable. Will have to...
