I recently visited the Camellia Hotel in Rosehill and was impressed by the new fitout. The recent renovations have given the pub a fresh, modern look while maintaining its welcoming, laid-back vibe. The updated decor features stylish furnishings, improved lighting, and a more open layout, which enhances the overall ambiance.
The staff were friendly and attentive, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. The food was a highlight; the menu offers a great selection of pub classics with some contemporary twists. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the sides were well-prepared and flavorful. The new fitout seems to have uplifted the presentation of the food as well.
The drinks menu is robust, with a good selection of beers on tap, wines, and cocktails. The bar area, part of the new fitout, is spacious and well-designed, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a drink.
The only minor drawback is that the pub can get quite busy during peak hours, leading to a bit of noise and a tight seating arrangement. However, this is a small trade-off for the vibrant atmosphere that the new design helps to create.
Overall, the Camellia Hotel’s recent renovations have significantly improved the pub’s appeal. It’s a great place for a meal or drinks with friends, offering a modern, comfortable setting and consistently...
Read moreTo be honest, expected better for the price. So there were 7 of us. We ordered garlic prawns, salt and pepper calamari, 2 lots of scotch fillet, rump and the chilli prawn linguine. The scotch fillet was supposed to be medium rare. It was more rare than medium rare and there were so many gristle bits throughout both pieces that rendered it not nice at all. When you're paying 42 bucks, you expect much much better. The chips and salad on the other hand were delicious. Every other meal was, according to those that are them, very nice as well. You just have to work on your steak cook and cut. Yes they were busy, but that's not an excuse. Will I go back there for a meal, no. Other contributing factors to the no.....there was a DJ playing in the meals area that was that loud, you really couldn't enjoy the meal over a conversation with those seated with you. Everyone had to tell to get the message across. Ruined the meal to be honest. Was OK for all the pissed idiots who were trying to dance after spending the day at the races, as alcohol is more important than food when you've been on it all day. So all in all, was a bit of a let down actually. Especially when food and drinks for the meal all up was over 500 bucks. Anyways. That's about as honest...
Read moreThe food was good but I was absolutely shocked to discover the bar staff outright refuse to make any sort of classic cocktails - they are apparently only able to charge you for the 8 or so cocktails on their drink menu. I asked for a margarita and they would not make it for me and instead offered me a drink with tequila, Alize and cucumber as an alternative. I really think you need to change this, it's really not on for a place with a bar to not be able to serve classic drinks. Could you not have charged me for another cocktail but instead made me the drink I asked for? Unless of course your bar staff do not know how to make classic cocktails, in which case proper bar training should be required or perhaps you should hire bar staff more knowledgeable in making drinks. I didn't ask for anything crazy here. The kicker is the staff gave me attitude when I insisted I had had a margarita last time I came. She even asked the girl working with her who agreed no, they couldn't make it and then also the bar manager when I pressed further. To be honest, I liked this place but will not be returning due to this poor experience which is very...
