Not my local, so I was heading into Carss Park on a job and the coffee shop across the road actually caught my eye first (see that review 10/10) so on my way back I thought I'd stop and grab a coffee. Looked over from across the road and thought I'd have a geez. To my surprise, the interior was shmick and the fridge had some gourmet salads and a few delicious looking items to choose from so I decided I will try it. I ordered the Cod croquettes with the apple/coleslaw salad as well as a half a dozen oysters and 1 tartare and 1 truffle mayo. The croquettes were delicious and cooked/prepared perfectly the salad was exquisite and the lovely lady added some yummy Greek salad for free which was very nice of her. The oysters were as fresh as a daisy, sometimes oysters are a hit or miss so I was holding my breath but honestly tasted like they were chucked today. Went in thinking it was a basic take away fish and chip shop and walked out having a mouth watering lunch and a shop that I will return to regularly. 11/10 and the owner was a down to earth, real genuine, lovely human being. (Sorry I didn't ask your name) and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how reviews should be written (at least I think so anyway ). Next time you're in Carss Park, pop in and taste...
Read more(3.5 stars) How are you travelling on the pathway to freedom? I’ve got my first restaurant booking this Thursday night and am very excited. If you’re looking for something that feels lower risk, this is a park-based dining idea from The Fishbox & Co. Located just up the road from Carss Park (which nets off a bit of Kogarah Bay for a harbour swimming area) it’s an easy stop for a takeaway feed. The classic fish & chips box ($15) gives you three long, crisply beer battered New Zealand hake fillets. They’re served on hand-cut chips with tangy tartare. Potato scallops ($1.10/each) are competent without being exceptional, ditto large loops of crumbed calamari ($1.90/each).
In the slightly-more-upmarket options, the Louisiana-style lobster po’boy ($21) presents the classy crustacean on a soft bun with coleslaw, chipotle mayo. and some blobs of slightly wacky chimichurri. The spacious green park surrounds are a good, safe eating environment for those keen to gently ease their...

Enjoyed the beer battered fish and chips very much. $17
The calamari rings are made in-house, so they are very tasty. $11
The chips are perfectly crisp with fluffy potato inside.
You can eat inside in comfort or outside on footpath although with a Carrs park at the end of the street you are spoilt for choice.
Negative
This is all great, but you know how you order a few calamari, and they chuck in a few extra to be generous and leave a good impression. This would not happen here we got exactly six.
Everything felt extremely measured and weighed.
My pet hate is stinginess with chips. They are cheap and fill you up, so why not be generous with them to satisfy customer?
It felt like someone counted out fifteen chips. I do not think fish and chips would satisfy hunger. We only got by because we bought calamari rings as well at $2 each!!!
This is good quality food but boutique servings which comes with...
