Grifter Brewing Co is a top brewery, housed in an old industrial warehouse. The decor is eclectic with a bunch of vintage books, pool table, lampshades and some skateboard decks on the walls. It feels in fitting with the Marrickville area in which this pub is located. The vibe is fun, with couples, groups of friends catching up and some cool tunes playing. We note you can also bring your dog. From Pale Ale to Pilsner, sunshine XPA, hoppy sour, outmeal sour and we even loved the pink lemonade sour. There’s no plenty of other options too, so your bets bet is to buy a tasting flights for $12 and try a few and then order a schooner or two of your favourite. The brewery also sells a range of merchandise as takeaway beers too.

Remember when warehouses were for making and storing stuff? If so, why are you (and I) still above ground? Get with the program...this is Sydney in the 2020s. The grifter place sits between the Vic and the factory (ironically not a warehouse or a factory). It makes pretty decent beer, and if your Devo's dog (freedom of choice) you'll run in circles and drop dead. Otherwise, you'll go well here...and the tacos are some of Sydney's better offerings...generous and flavourful. Mexican friend gave them the thumbs up, but she was in birthday girl brew stew.

“A grifter might be a pickpocket, a crooked gambler, scammer, or a confidence man.” Then consider me fooled … as on today’s mini-brewery crawl thru Marrickville the best beer of the day was had right here at Grifter - The Peach Melba Sour. A hint of sweetness, a hint our sourness, unmistakably beer and altogether refreshing! This dog friendly brewery has its entrance via the garage doors, and opens up into an expansive seating and bar area, warm with mirth and strong on ambience. Getin and get on the grift!

Don’t bother coming here as management are rude and staff are unfriendly , it goes to show that poor leadership leads to unfriendly and toxic environment.

I feel bad for the pizza bros , who are serving pizza in this environment as they are the opposite they are quite friendly and approachable.

I sat down on my table waiting for 2 other people to come ordered drinks and pizza for them and the security guard wouldn’t let them in as they were at maximum capacity.

I asked Milly the manager at the time if I can have my friends join me, but she said no they just have to wait. I asked her what the conditions of entry is and what the policy was and we’re it was advertised and she brushed me off and wouldn’t clarify or show me a copy of the policy she is talking about.

She did not offer me a full refund because of her so called policy and asked me to leave the venue, so inhumane ( she thinks she is above the law) , I hope that Boone has to deal with this kind of person ever, absolutely disgusting behaviour as a so called manager.

I asked Milly where are those policies and conditions of entry were placed at the front of the building and she couldn’t answer because they were not visible to the public.

So it’s up to their discretion who they let it. They pick and choose.

The security guard does not follow a system as when at capacity as they say and no one is walking out , they let in 10 people at a time , but can’t let it 1 person to enjoy a meal.

Poor management that’s all I can say.

If you don’t have a table booking system in place , then maybe think about one to avoid all this trouble and have a queue for reservations especially if you are offering food in your brewery or clearly state what your conditions of entry is so people do not waste their time and money at your...

Last Saturday night I did the usual brewery trail starting with a coupe beers at Sauce, had a middy at this location and a double cheese burger which was very tasty and a god accompaniment to the beer. My gripe mainly rests with the security guard and "no drinks past this point sign." I placed my beer on a ledge just past the table so I could watch it while I had a cigarette outside in the carpark. The security guard asked me in an unfriendly manner whilst chowing down on a burger to move my beer behind the sign which was barely a metre away and as I didn't want to leave it unattended and out of sight I finished and and went on to have a cigarette. Then upon lighting my cigarette in the carpark well over 4 metres from the entrance said guard 'herded' all the smokers into a corner of the carpark. Completely unnecessary manner and demeanor. I then decided to leave of my own accord and finish my smoke on the street and spend my money elsewhere. Such a shame as I had enjoyed Grifter beers at many establishments and was looking forward to enjoying them "at the source." I've worked in both hospitality and security and can assure that the attitude of this guard is the reason many people of my age (36) just can't be bothered going...

Good beers, security is plainly disrespectful When we were entering the venue, we were told to go to another venues as there was a wait for more then 30 mins. Waites 5 mins max. Once in, we had security watching our table. We ordered 2 tasting trays and eat then ordered another two ( I'm sober and 4 boys are drinking and there were other people who couldn't even walk.) two of the lads when out for a smoke on the way in they were calculating a cost for a pallet of beer, when security pulled them a side and asked them to leave. Because the guy in the hat couldn't focus his eyes. So we left and I went back to speak to the manager (guy presenting to be manager) I told security to take the in the white shirt because he was stumbling. When the manager came she had no idea. Security and management did not have the same story. They guy wanted the brown guys out. I would not recommend if your off colour. Love the...
