We love visiting new cafes for coffee, especially those places where the coffee is excellent but the staff are also friendly and not at all arrogant. That is certainly the case at Double Tap. This neighbourhood cafe In Marrickville in the backstreets amongst factories and plenty of mechanics. It is quite hard to find a car spot but take the chances for it is worth a visit!

We had been recommended to visit here by a few people including @where_do_i_eat_pete and my brother who lives in the area. A local barista also identified this as one of his favourites. We don’t live in area so it’s been difficult for us to visit since they only open Mon-Friday. I took the opportunity on my holidays to visit. I enjoyed it so much that I returned twice more. By the third time, they’d already remembered my order. That’s impressive.

I can understand why. Owner Daniel Karaconji was roaster at Coffee Alchemy for 9 years so certainly knows his way around a coffee shop. He’s the front of house and is perfect for the role since he makes you feel welcome by his inviting smile and kind demeanour around the cafe. The barista is also friendly, and makes a good cup of coffee. Using their own roasted beans for the milk based and single O for their espresso. On my first visit, I enjoyed the coffee so much and that’s what made me return.

On the return visited I opted for food too. The sandwich menu is super reasonable, at only $11 for eggplant, tuna, free range ham, mortadella, poached chicken or our choice, the Pastrami Reuben. Freshly toasted bread filled with pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, cheese and a special sauce. A super tasty lunch option.

For the lovers of salad like me, they also sell salad bowls with just veggies, chicken or tuna. A salad base with a large piece of baked pumpkin, lentils, shaved carrot and beetroot, sauerkraut. Nicely seasoned tuna with oil and capers rests atop the salad. The flavours work well together and it is filling too. For $13, that’s great value.

In the counter there are are croissants, pastries and cakes as well as some pre-made sandwiches for those on the go. We had one of their almond croissants, filled with custard and raspberry which made it nice and sweet.

The space itself is casual with plenty of space, wooden tables and a large feature wall with a lovely botanical mural. The native flowers on the table are in keeping with this theme.

Open til 3, they are able to service all the locals and workers in the area and people on a destination visit like me! I’ll be sure to be back on my...

A place that has become somewhat of a second home to me. You know you hit the jackpot when you come across a place that delivers excellent coffee, gourmet-level dishes, reasonable prices, and staff that remember your name & preferences from your first few visits.

I recall the first time I came here - it was for a takeaway coffee before work. First sip of my almond flat white and I stopped dead on my tracks. It was the silkiest, creamiest, and most aromatic coffee that's ever passed my lips and I felt the world soften around me. The next visit I tried their banana bread for breakfast. Same sensation for the toasty, deep & rich flavour from each bite. It was only during my 3rd or 4th visit that I actually had lunch here, and oh dear, I was hooked from then on.

The sandwiches here are next level, especially anything with Liz's hummus. I thought I didn't like hummus before that, I was so sorely wrong. The salad bowls with the most colourful display & filling portions are also incredible. If I were to recommend, I'd say go for the eggplant hummus & lemon tuna sandwiches, or the poached chicken & smashed egg salads. But my ultimate recommendation remains the chicken shawarma wrap. The most life-changing thing you can experience - generously spiced chicken in a flavour you can't find anywhere else, tangy pickled cabbage, that savoury garlicky hummus, and fresh tomatoes in a toasty wrap. Extraordinary.

Service here is another thing - they make you feel like family & always make sure you're taken care of. I wish I could show them as much love as I feel everytime I'm here but it's almost impossible because every word, every sip, every bite, every moment you have here is laced with so much love & thought that it's hard to return.

Long story short, come here. It may just change your life. And to the DT family, thank you, from the very bottom of my...

I had such a beautiful Café experience in the Double Tap Café! I instantly felt welcome and cozy after entering. I love the minimalistic but still cozy interior. Perfect calming music to get all the perfect cafe feelings going! I ordered a large almond cappuccino and it was divine! Great coffee taste, creamy almond milk and oh my what a beautiful latte art! So much love in one single cup. That truly made my day. After seeing the delicious sandwiches and avocado toasts I spontaneously decided to get some lunch as well and let me tell you the avocado toast was perfection!!!! (especially for the low price!!)Creamy and fresh avocado, crunchy bread and perfectly seasoned with salt and sesame. The baristas/staff were all so kind, friendly and welcoming! I felt super safe and comfortable the whole time. After visiting I have to say that I‘m a huge fan. Big recommendation from the bottom of my heart! Thank you so much lovely Double Tap Team for this wonderful experience. I appreciate the love and effort you put into the Café, meals and every single...
