After years of going to this pub and spending way too much money over the years I will never return again after being robbed and treated like a criminal.
Won $400 on a pokey machine only for it to malfunction and not allow to cash out . The on site waitress witnessed this in person and called the manger to asses. Was told by the manager that the cctv has seen that the win was correct but we could not pay us at the time as the needed to check with the higher mangers. I was told to come back the next day and they will have it all sorted and give me the cash , I asked them for something in writing as I feel I would look like an idiot just walking in and asking for money . The denied to provide anything in writing and told me they have have cctv as prof I have nothing to worry about. They then proceeded to take my id details and phone number.
Returned then next day to have 5 of there managers circle around me to tell me that we actually “took the win wrong” I then asked could I please see the cctv as proof which they replied we are not allowed to do that. It also frustrating to know they had my contact number so they could’ve let me know before I wasted my time going there again just to look like an idiot .
I under stand i am 6 ft 2” larger man but I did not feel it was necessary for 5 of them to circle around me like that.
I feel harassed and robbed I urge no one to go...
Read moreAfter ordering (overpriced) hot chips, we informed the bar staff that we’d be sitting at the picnic tables near the large screen. They provided us with a number without any issues. However, when our food arrived, a waitress approached us—passive-aggressively—telling us we needed to move due to licensing regulations. Apparently, because smoking is permitted in a large part of the outdoor area, eating there is prohibited. We pointed out that we had mentioned our seating location when ordering, and nothing was said at that time. This was met with a blank stare. We agreed to relocate inside where there was limited seating, only to have the waitress vanish with our food. We had to track it down, eventually speaking to another indifferent staff member. When we asked why customers aren’t informed when they place their order, the response was a dismissive, “there’s only so much we can do.”
It’s crazy that, as adults, we aren’t trusted to make our own decisions about where to eat. If you prefer to avoid second-hand smoke, that’s entirely your choice, but if it doesn’t bother you, why not allow people to decide for themselves? The double standard is completely illogical —alcohol (which let’s face it, isn’t great for your health) is served, yet we’re not permitted to make a simple choice about where to...
Read moreI recently visited The Vic in Marrickville for the first time, and I was really disappointed with the experience. Despite arriving and ordering during happy hour, I was charged full price because the bartender claimed the system had just switched over to regular pricing after pouring my drink. When I explained that I’d ordered within the happy hour window, she was rude and dismissive, making me fight to get a partial refund.
The service was unprofessional, with the bartender engaging in unnecessary back-and-forth with another customer who wasn’t involved in my interaction, which only escalated the situation. Customer service should aim to resolve issues smoothly, not add fuel to the fire.
To make matters worse, the food was overpriced and poorly executed. I ordered the grilled octopus, expecting something special for the price, but it was a single tentacle drenched in overly spicy, low-quality chili sauce that tasted straight from a bottle. The flavours didn’t balance at all, and the dish felt thrown together with little thought.
All in all, a disappointing experience both in terms of service and food quality. I had high expectations but left with a sour taste—literally and figuratively. I hope management takes this...
