It was a chilly May evening, the building is an old converted one. We were seated in the adjoining outer section with corrugated roofing, plastic insulation and air con heat converters. it wasn't very warm although the staff had put the air con unit on enough to make it just about warm enough. We ordered the onion Bhaji, Prawn Malabari and Bhuna lamb. I'm often a little suspicious of restaurants were every main dish on the menu seems to entail a decision by the customer as to whether its wanted mild, medium or spicy. I feel that should be inherent in the dish. The food arrived quickly. Onion bhaji tasted strongly of fenugreek for some reason. Not quite sure why but it wasn't bad. Rice and Naan were okay. The "medium" prawn dish to our taste seemed just mild, however the "hot" lamb dish tasted like someone had emptied half a jar of stale red chilli powder into it just before serving - it was extremely spicy in a tasteless unpleasant way that made it virtually inedible - and I'm someone who will happily eat a hot curry. The prices were not particularly cheap. The toilets were in plastic cabins outside the main building. I don't think we'll be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAmbiance - definitely good. Food - most Indian restaurants that are really good (e.g Manjits, or Urban Tadka) have one part of cuisine they excel at... Sadly this place didnāt. Entree - had seekh kebab - would not recommend. Turned up within 3-4 minutes - obviously not from the Tandoor. Butter chicken and Daal makhani - fortunately for the kids came as mild as possible - but also not fresh hot temperature. Nor the chicken Karahi. Tasted good...but when food is just reheated has a very different taste to freshly prepared food! Service - certainly nothing to write home about! Pricing - average. Though $6.50 for a bowl of rice is a little steep! Was hoping for some complimentary papadums...sadly not š
We were here with 2 kids and we did ask if we could order banquet for 2 people. NOTE: We didnāt ask for buffet for 2 people. Typically a banquet is a fixed amount of food. We were denied it...unless we ordered separate food for the kids. First restaurant I have been to that has ever expected this. Will probably go back (given limitation of Indian restaurants in North shore) but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ambiance was warm and inviting, with beautiful Indian decor that gave the space an authentic feel. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes, and the staff was more than happy to make recommendations based on my taste preferences. I started with the vegetable samosas, which were perfectly crisp and filled with a flavorful mixture of potatoes and peas. The accompanying chutneys were the perfect complement to the savory samosas. For my main course, I opted for the chicken tikka masala, a classic Indian dish that can be tricky to execute well. However, their version was exceptional. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the creamy tomato-based sauce was perfectly spiced. I also ordered a side of garlic naan, which was soft and fluffy with just the right amount of garlic flavor. Throughout my meal, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and my water glass was never empty for long. The restaurant was bustling with a mix of couples, families, and groups of friends, all enjoying the delicious food and...
