We were happy to visit restaurant at St George sailing club (before if was ‘Captain’s Grill’) for over 20 years; but recent visit was big disappointment. We have booked a table to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday well in advance. We actually came to the restaurant to make sure we would get nice seat on the day. As each table have a number, we asked for particular table, but as that could not be arranged, we asked for the table in the main area rather than at the back of the restaurant. There were a few reservations for particular day, and they put the special request on our booking. When we came for celebration, we found out that our requirement was totally ignored and we were given a table at the back area with no alternative. The mood was ruined, and it was late to go somewhere else, so we had to accept the offer. It is hard to understand how the stuff manage the booking system, as on weekends there are too many people to be accommodated. Why have numbers then – only for billing? and what about customer satisfactions? I am not even talking about noise and overcrowded restaurant on any weekend due to large number of tables positioned very close to each other, despite of much enlarged restaurant area. It seems that the only concern for management is to get as many people as possible. The food was good, but I recon it is quite pricey for...
Read moreIt has been quite a while since my last visit which ended up unsatisfactory. Last time, I actually could cook a better Rump Steak brought from Coles myself, than the Rump Steak I got from here. The food this time is average. The burger is ok & the sirloin steak is really average. The live band is way too loud & they could use a better lead singer. Both my boss & I are on ear plugs the whole time. My boss even refused to remove her ear plugs until we’ve reached the parking lot. Most of the members here got silver hair and seemingly enjoying themselves. So my best guess is they must have been suffering from some degree of hearing lost. Service are overloaded. Not that they’re lazy or inefficient, more like seriously under staff for the size of this place. I was told to queue at the bar for a beer, which is fine. But when I want tea for my boss as well, I was told to queue again at another spot for tea! I feel like I am dealing with the Great British Government back in the 1960s all over again. So no tea for my boss & no beer for me. Likely I would still keep my membership here just for Sea Breeze...
Read moreGreat service and nice food! (Ribs are delish!) Hosted a party of 16 ppl for my sons 2nd bday last night and everything was fine. The maître d was helpful and the food came out hot and fast. I will admit I was nervous about booking here after reading the reviews BUT my guess was these reviews may have come directly after the change of ownership mid 2019. Read a more recent one that gave me hope and I agree service was good. I saw the maître d go around asking other tables how their meal was so he is very tentative. Took me a while to find a waiter but once I got his attention (maître d) he was onto it straight away and someone came. Most of my guests enjoyed the 3 course meal and others ordered a la cart, we highly recommend the ribs! Very busy from 6 onwards so book ahead! We booked for 6:30 so lucky we did. All in all thanks to the guys for allowing us to dine and celebrate...
