My wife and I visited the Pickled Possum on a Saturday night. The night started fine, we hung out with our friends and watched others have a fun time belting out their selected songs. We waited for around an hour and a half for my wifeās song to be played, when it did the guy from the song before very reluctantly handed the mic to my wife after she repeatedly had to tell him it was her song. Once she got the mic another man grabbed her wrist with one hand and reefed the mic away from her with the other. We were both in shock at this as it happened so quickly and with no words exchange, so we had no context as to what and why that happened. We chalked it up to the guy being drunk so we thought it was better to not approach him and just leave the premises as the bar staff were over-serving everyone at that point in the night anyway. As we headed out the door I realised that the guy who grabbed my wifeās wrist and snatched the mic was actually an employee so I very kindly approached him and asked what on earth that was for. He told me the song was for someone else and that my wife was taking the song away from another lady. When we both had a look at the song queue it was clear that it was her name and her song that was playing. He apologised but honestly seemed like he couldnāt care less. I just told him to maybe ask questions first before putting someone at risk of injury. When youāre a six foot man grabbing a 5,2ā woman in the middle of a crowded bar you need to realise that you can physically hurt people. She has a jarred arm this morning and we both felt like the employee could have avoided this by just asking her some questions or politely asking for the mic.
Also, usually wouldnāt leave a review for this but since Iām writing it out regardless the bar is very under stocked with no taps at all.
We are both sober and from what we could make out the only option for alcohol free beverages was a bottle of Coleās brand soda water that they sold...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was just the kind a place where you can let your hair down and have some fun with your friends. Dark, yet inviting, run down, yet cozy. The proprietor was this senior who opens the place only from Thursday to Saturday because that's when the place is hopping. It's a small bar with a small stage for karaoke of which there are thousands songs. There is a fair selection of beer and alcohol. In other words all the ingredients for a fun late evening - the place stays open till 1 a.m. Overall, a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is so much fun! Came here for a friend's birthday having never tried karaoke before (I fully expected to hate it) but the bar is super cosy and so friendly. Everyone (whether they're good or bad at singing) gets up on stage and gives it a go and the 'crowd' really encourages you. It's not a fancy bar but it's such a good laugh, plus there's a Maccas a short walk up the road for when...
