Disappointing Experience at The Shed Café & Catering, Eastern Creek - Not Worth It

As newcomers to the area, we were eager to find a cosy spot to enjoy our morning coffee and unwind. When we stumbled upon The Shed Café & Catering in Eastern Creek, we thought we had found our go-to café, especially with its inviting seating area that seemed perfect for a relaxed family morning. However, our excitement quickly turned to disappointment, as the overall experience left much to be desired.

The first thing that struck us was the unfriendly atmosphere. The staff seemed uninterested and generally miserable, which immediately set a negative tone. Despite this, we decided to give the place a chance, hoping the coffee would make up for the lacklustre service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

I ordered a jumbo coffee for $6.50, expecting a rich, flavourful brew to kickstart my day. Instead, what I received was essentially a cup of warm milk with barely a hint of coffee. I’m not someone who likes to make a fuss, and I usually avoid asking for my coffee to be adjusted. But on this particular morning, I just couldn’t stomach it. I finally mustered up the courage to politely ask the barista if she could add a bit more coffee.

What followed was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I’ve had in a café. The barista looked absolutely disgusted by my request, as if I had asked for something completely unreasonable. She exchanged glances with her colleague/manager, and they proceeded to have a whispered conversation. After a few moments, the manager came over and curtly informed me that adding more coffee would cost an additional 70 cents.

I want to be clear—I’m not someone who looks for freebies or tries to get something for nothing. I had already paid $6.50 for the drink and was just hoping for a slight adjustment so I could actually enjoy my coffee. The fact that I was charged extra for what should have been a simple fix was not only frustrating but also humiliating. It takes a bit of courage to speak up in situations like this, and their response made me feel as though I had done something wrong.

To add insult to injury, I later noticed a response from the owner to another negative review, stating, "Please do not hesitate to bring the coffee back for us to remake it if it is not up to your standards." This is clearly not the case, as I wasn’t even asking for a remake—just a small adjustment. The lack of consistency and the dismissive attitude of the staff are clear indicators of a deeper problem with customer service.

As someone who owns a hospitality business, I understand the importance of making sure customers leave satisfied. A small gesture like fixing a coffee, especially for a customer who’s already paid, goes a long way in building goodwill. Sadly, The Shed Café & Catering seems to have missed this memo.

In the end, I wasted $50 at this café over the week, hoping each visit would be better than the last. Unfortunately, this place is simply undeserving of our time and money. We definitely won’t be...

The cafe is really family friendly and has a play space outside as well as a bookshelf full of kids books and colouring in sheets & pencils, which is perfect for keeping the kids occupied while they wait.

Delving into the acai bowl was an explosion of freshness! The seasonal fruits nestled atop the velvety acai base were beyond exceptional—each slice, each berry seemed plucked straight from the orchard or vine. The blend of succulent, ripe fruits brought forth an orchestra of flavors, a symphony of sweet and tangy that danced on the palate.

But oh, the granola! It wasn't just granola; it was a masterpiece in its own right. The crunch was impeccable, the texture divine.
