If you want a food coma, then come to this place. Beware of the pork knuckle, it is actually a dinner for two. I was absolutely shocked when the gentleman dropped the plate on the table and said "champion of breakfasts". I was shocked I looked at it and thought to myself "are the staff playing a joke on me?" This thing looked like it could feed two adults or four kids. I left a photo of the left overs in the description. The taste of this was amazing. I still can't believe that this costs $38. The quality is matched by its quantity. The pork was cooked all the way through and the crackling was done perfect. The pickles that came with the dish have to be hand made. It did not taste like store bought. The wild cherry ale was amazing. I wish I could of tried the rest of the beers and even have desert, as you can see by the photo I could not. The staff are friendly, but the greatest asset is Tommy himself. It is great to see a owner who truly cares about his guests. I see him introducing himself to everyone that walks in and also being friendly with his staff. Tommy was very excited to actually show me the pig getting spit roasted in his beer garden, to his amazement he could not find it but still took the time to walk me to his kitchen to show me the pig. I have to say it very rare that business owners are this passionate about their trade. I highly recommend you bring at least one person with you when you come here, you will need them and I 100% guarantee that they will not be disappointed. You want to impress, you bring people to Tommy's. PS: Tommy can arrange parties of all sorts.

Located about half-way up on Glebe’s always busy main street is Tommy’s very European restaurant featuring Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Austrian and German cuisines. The rustic looking place has indoor areas and a rather sizable outside garden. This is probably the only place in Sydney where you can order – from the menu – an entire roasted pig that serves 25 people. It is called “pig on the spit banquet!” The super-friendly waiter got us the perfect place. We ordered Tommy’s mixed platter which is a kind of a sampling platter that comes with chicken – not veal – schnitzel on mashed potato, very tasty roasted duck on braised red cabbage and pork belly on East-European sauerkraut. The entire dish reminded my hubby of his Bohemian grand-ma’s superb cooking. Tommy’s food is hearty and cooked to perfection. As we shared the substantial plate, we also enjoyed nice chips on the side. The evening was rounded up with two pieces of very filling and most exquisitely done “traditional bohemian strudel” that comes with strawberries, ice-crème, and whipped crème. Only Carlsbad wafers would have made us feel more at home. Apart from missing those thin wafers, Tommy’s was an utter delight. Since we missed out on the Hungarian goulash and the Czech dumplings, my hubby and I have already made a pact to return to Tommy’s Beer Café - soon. You cannot go wrong in a Czech restaurant that serves becherovka. This is a “we shall return” kind of place.

I've had a few visits to Tommy's, a place I believe is truly worth going to - by bus. Negligible parking, but after a few steins, you don't want to drive anyway. The food... the servings are filling. Very filling. The 'mixed platter' is certainly worthy of purchase. It doesn't look a lot, but it fills. The pork belly - divine. You could almost live on it. The beer range is good. Few constants, with some that change monthly. Prepare to spend around $100 (April 2019) for a good meal with drinks for two people. Tommy is very approachable and makes sure all is well. So looking forward to the next visit. There is a banquet room for larger groups and seating out the back.

This place is always a great choice on a cold winter evening when you want some hearty and delicious food. We forgot how generous are the dishes but if you visit make sure you order warm freshly baked pretzels to go with your beer while you’re waiting for your food to arrive. When it comes to beer you will find some seriously good Czech beer , in my humble opinion they are some of the best beers in the world but you come to check it yourself. Definitely try CZECH CUT a blend of half dark and half lager. It’s really good to see that service, food and beer are always consistent quality and it’s not a nostalgia that keeps bringing us back to this local gem.

Second time at Tommy's and just as whelmed. Ordered the mix platter and the crispy pork belly wasn't crispy which is a really big mark down, the duck was super dry but at least the skin was crispy. Was really excited for the pig on a spit but the pig itself was also on the dry side without the succulent quality I was expecting, however the potatoes were good. Unfortunately service wise they forgot one of our tables order so one person waited ages for a simple platter, plus they forgot one of our drinks. Nice atmosphere though in the beer garden. Apple strudel was nice with the ice cream, but also drier than I expected.

German beer full stop. I always enjoy a German beer so I’m a bit biased to places like this one but let’s get into the review. Upon entry Tommy’s is a really cool place offering some authenticity while also a casual open style. The cafe seems to attract a mix of young and old. Staff were polite and attentive for the most part. Food that I ate was nice with good sized portions. Reasonable range of beers for a smaller establishment with prices being fair. The place is deceptively large also hosting an upstairs area and seating out back. I would definitely visit again.
