We’re always on the hunt for somewhere to try that we haven’t been before. When our personal trainer recommended Tradewinds in Maroubra, we were keen to try, given that it’s also local for us. We are surprised that we hadn’t been before.
The restaurant can easily be found on Maroubra road with ample parking around. Whilst the restaurant is quite large, and can accomodate couples, families and groups, we recommend booking to guarantee a table.
One of the best things about the restaurant is that the staff are just so darn nice. They all appear to love their job, be eager to help and offer suggestions as to what to order. We felt welcome and appreciated the quality service. Furthermore, the service was efficient, with food being delivered in good timing.
Food wise, Tradewinds is a modern restaurant / bistro in Maroubra specialising in hearty food; meats on the grill, burgers, pastas, pizzas, salads and plenty of specials with influences from around the world.
They have a good range of meats and we absolutely loved their smoked ribs, basted in a delicious – sauce. We ordered the pork ribs on one occasion and the meat platter on another. The meat platter also comes with steak, lamb souvlaki pieces and some of their tasty beer battered steakhouse fries.
We also the flash fried salt and pepper calamari, served with fresh rocket and creamy aioli. The kofta special was also delicious; the kofta served with pita, fries and salad.
Tradewinds also does plenty of desserts, tea and coffee as well as brunch on weekends. The restaurant suits all demographics - young and old and perfect for any sort of catch up.
We recommend trying out this family owned business for the food is great, portions are generous and service...
Read moreI moved to Maroubra 2yrs ago and had yet to try Tradewinds. Now I wish I'd found it much earlier. I searched for 'local rib takeaway' and this was the second place I rang, I arrived, warmly greeted, I knew what I wanted, full rack, nice smokey flavoured sauce coating but not overpowering the ribs. And I was not disappointed. Though at $64 a full rack wasn't cheap, the ribs are perfectly cooked, just falls off the bone, the fresh salad I opted for was VERY fresh, not a single wilted leaf, definitely fresh that afternoon, or that evening. Came with a creamy dressing which was nice but I'd have liked an oil/herb dressing, Though I initially thought $64 was a little steep, u pay for what u get and I, will be back. And my flatmate tried one; and ATE FOUR...I'll definitely be a weekly return customer, and the service was very polite and helpful. Only down point and it's minor, but guys get LARGER takeaway bags cause the largest of your bags don't quite fit a large take away box and allow me to carry the bag by its handles. That's it, so it's pretty much got the food 100% sorted and so 10/10, or 5☆'s Tradewins serves Great food and whilst not cheap, the quality makes it worth the price I'll DEFINITELY be back👍I don't understand the negative reviews here but most are old so maybe the former previous management were the issue because it's a lovely clean Restaurant, serving top food It's not a corner takeaway grub "fish n chip" joint. The food is top notch and very fresh. My flatmate wants to go there in person tonight for lamb shanks he noticed are on the menu, Well you found two new Tradewinds regular diner converts. Looking forward to...
Read moreWhat started off as quite a lovely experience started to go downhill as my meal was brought to me and was dumped on the table without so much a glance, let alone a confirmation that that order was actually mine. The whole time we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to the staff, who were busy chatting amongst themselves the entire time. Understandably, we had arrived an hour prior to close, that should not have had an impact on the level of service we receive. I then thought their saving grace would be the steak I ordered, but upon cutting into it, one disappointment led to another. It literally tasted like beef flavoured gum. I'm not a fan of food wastage but had to give half the steak a pass as it was just too much of an effort to chew and not knowing what to do with the residue. The potato served on the side was equally sad looking, as if it had been sitting in the pantry for weeks collecting bruises. As I was attempting to power through the steak, one of the waitresses decided to start mopping the floor around our table, resulting in the most nauseating pungent odor. At that point I gave up on the entire experience and just got up, paid and left. First and left...
