Hotel Maroubra — Hotel in Sydney

The place has friendly waitresses and nice food but unfortunately management is horrifying. Damon (one of the managers) is inconsiderate, rude, lacks communication skills and manners all together. My husband and I were regulars of the bistro for over 4 years but Damon mistreated us twice in two different occasions in the last few months. In the first occasion it was due to the fact that they started charging for sauces for the main courses, which never happened in the previous years, so we wanted to understand why the sudden change. Damon was rude and told my husband and I not to come back. We’ve avoided him since. Today he was rude again and told me to leave. All of this because I told him I had previously registered with the son of the owner upon entering the hotel. He asked me for my information again and I told him I had already been in, registered and ordered food for takeaway and he continued being unpleasant when speaking to me. I told him then that I was only going to let my husband know I would be waiting for him outside and he still didn’t let me go through to quickly speak to him. The new menu is fantastic.

The bistro has limited patronage for lunch, so it is a great place to have a chat with friends over lunch.

My absolute favourite place for lunch in Maroubra and is a well kept local secret.

I love the special of the day, I have never been disappointed.

My favourite here is the Maroubra pie, it’s actually not a pie but a lamb shank with a piece of pastry.

I also love the lamb backstrap which is delicious.

You cannot get a better rump steak any where else if you are a steak eater, you get to choose three sides with plenty of choice.

Came to this pub three years ago and vowed never to go back, but stop the boat and let me off! It's changed! Renovations happening, yes, but with real taste bringing back its original character. Really friendly bar staff, stop for a beer on the way home you won't regret it. I did take convincing but my Friday after work was great and I even won a couple of steaks in the raffle! Come on down and visit a real local with real people. Plus, a great wine list best I've seen in Maroubra, who would have thought. This summer you will be quing to get in people! Only let down...still allow smoking in the court yard at the back...well it's not a let down if you smoke ha! I'll give this place more stars when it's finished, keep up...
