Flying in to Sydney from Melbourne on a delayed Jetstar flight we decided to dine out on our drive home rather than eat during the flight and VN Street Foods definitely featured on or short list of options. It’s about a 10 minute drive from where we parked at P3 domestic parking. We arrived a little before 6pm on the 27th of January 2024. There were plenty of free tables and only two small groups ordering before us. After about half a nanosecond of deliberation we ordered 2x highly affordable #30 Bun Cha then selected our table outside and sat down. Our meals were prepared and delivered within a couple of minutes. The offerings appeared quite generous and the flavours and aroma took me back in my mind to Hanoi but fortunately the seats at Vn Street Foods weren’t the low type found in Vietnam. The medley of grilled meat swimming in a sweet aromatic sauce/broth gave a smokey, slightly charred flavour. The generous side of herbs and greens made up of mint, coriander, perilla leaf and some leaves of butter lettuce were added to the bowl providing a freshness of flavour that complimented the charred meatiness. Throw in a portion of rice vermicelli noodles and the flavour party really starts. We enjoyed our meals immensely. The portion size is completely adequate and the bun Cha dish doesn’t leave you feeling heavy. I will definitely eat here again

The service here was just appalling!!! I mean I don't expect much but the cashier here was simply very RUDE!!! He was just yawning right at our faces. When we started to order, he turned away and decided to have a "mini conversation" with the kitchen staff...When he feels like his "ready" to do his job, he asked us to repeat our order...AGAIN!! For like the third time??!!! Clearly was just distracted and not interested in taking our orders. Not sure what it is but the service here is definately lacking so don't expect any!!! Food wise...nothing amazing. Very average...I ordered their beef wrapped in betal leaf with vermicelli noodles and one of their "nem" (Hanoi style). Their beef wrapped in betal leaf lacking flavour, it did not have any aroma and the meat itself was a bit dry. I was expecting for the beef wrapped in betal leaf to be like grilled but because it was pan fried, the dish was very oily for my liking. The dipping sauce that came with it didn't have much flavour either and tasted slightly watered down. Overall, sadly not a very satisfying dish. For their "nem" (Hanoi Style)...this is just simply Vietnamese fried spring rolls. So pretty average... I would have given other dishes a try but their poor customer service and rude cashier staff left me with a bad impression of the place. So I will definately NOT be returning here!!!

I have never met or seen an ‘overweight’ Vietnamese before. Have you??? I think this may have a great deal to do with their diet! Hence, Vietnamese cuisine ranks high up on our most favourite cuisines. Visiting Sydney over Xmas & NY, our host suggested that we take a long drive to Marrickville to try out “VN Street Food”…lots of Vietnamese out that way apparently. We got there around lunch time (no bookings taken), and managed to get the last big table for 5, while one person lined up outside to place the food orders. Everyone ordered the grilled lemongrass pork bun cha, except me…I said, I must have VN’s ‘beef pho’. Surely that’s the measure of how good a Vietnamese restaurant is, right? (Wrong!) When the food arrived, I was really regretting not following the advice to get the Bun Cha. The Beef pho was tasty and nice, but the Bun Cha (which I managed to steal some scraps off peoples’ plates) was amazing. The grilled pork was deliciously cooked (slightly charred), the sauce was very tasty, and the variety of herbs piled on the platter was very generous. Next time, I am ordering the Bun Cha, no question about it! Well done VN Street Food. Very healthy food at very affordable prices. I can feel my waistline unchanged, but I was still feeling full. I will be back to Marrickville, despite the distances I have to travel.

I went here last night after work (Thursday 20 June 2024) around 7pm to try out this restaurant. It was very crowded with a lot of people waiting to order but the service was quick and I got a table and the food came promptly. The food was good with a big portion and a reasonabe price however my sauce was a bit sweet, I hope they make it less sweet next time. I like the fresh chilli option at the counter where you can pick up your own chilli and extra chilli sauce for free. The gap between the tables was quite small which was hard for people to get in to their seats. In short, great service, nice foods and excellent price. Will come back here for sure. Update: I came back here yesterday (Friday 05 July 2024) with my friend to have lunch. My friend had Beef Pho which he seems to like it, and I had 'banh cuon'. My meal was average, not as good as the 'banh cuon' from Ba Oanh as the banh cuon here at VN Street food did not have mushroom in the middle of the rolls and the sauce in grill pork bowl was extremely sweet whilst banh cuon Ba Oanh was quite tasty with the mushrooms and the sauce was perfect.

All the stars are for the food, I've had home delivery from here a few times, and then went to eat in today. It's a little hole in the wall place, but the food was really very tasty and the portions were big! I tried the bun cha (because I've never had it before) and it was a bang of flavour, and a very hearty portion for me. My friend had the rice vermicelli with beef, which I tasted and it was great too. Previously I've had the grilled chicken with steamed sticky rice, and I have to say, for me, this one wins over the bun cha. Maybe I'm used to rice vermicelli Kerala style (idiyappam), so I found this one lacking in flavour. I know that's how it's meant to be, like rice, but it just didn't do it for me. The wait staff were great, but the girl behind the counter taking orders and money seemed impatient and was not very courteous. Not bad enough that I won't visit again, but behind the counter service could be improved.
