As a Vietnamese, I definitely has a high expectation for this place with their Pho with their high rating. However, their pho broth is nothing but salty with little flavour. There was a lack of spices and beef broth, hence why the broth is clear. Real authentic pho must have a bit of fat and cannot be that clear. Bone broth is not clear. So the broth was definitely disappointing.
Moving on to the veggies plate, if you go to any other Pho restaurant they always give you the veggies plate on the side so you can put it in yourself if you prefer to. However, this place just dunk everything in for you and brought it out without even asking for your preference. So that lead to my next point, which is their horrible customer service.
They have a full house for lunch and only have 2-3 waiters running around doing everything from taking orders, cleaning the tables, preparing Uber eats, and seating customers down. To make it worst, none of them are coordinating with one another to efficiently maximise their work flow. All three waiters are just inexperience, but the management is incompetent. It shows that the owner of this Pho restaurant has little to no experience in running a pho place. So I am really questioning their pho making experience. (Not everyone that can make beef broth and noodles at home can call it authentic pho).
Back to the waiters. There was a long line at the door, even out onto the footpath while there were 4-5 EMPTY TABLES that needed cleaning and customers can sit down. People waited so long that they just sat themselves down, because since they lined up NONE of the waiters has acknowledged their presence. Not even the one standing first in line got a smile or nod since they were here long before I did. All they have to do is prioritise clearing tables and attend to waiting customers, beside hiring more staffs of course. If you sit yourself down at one of the empty tables, they will immediately tell you to get back in line. What a joke, right!!???
My mum wanted to leave so many time but I thought we’ve waited for so long so might as well try it once to understand why they have such a high rating. Fast forward more than an hour later, we finally got a seat and to save time we ordered right away because god know how long we have to wait for the waiter to finally come back. We ordered and waited another 45min for our food to finally come out, only because we had to ask them to check on our order. And guess what, of course they got our order WRONG. When we told the waiter that or order was wrong, just so he knows, not that I wanted him to swap my order considering the wait I might have to endure again for change of order. But the waiter was extremely rude and stubborn, he would not admit that he got the wrong order. So we had a bit back and forth, then I gave up. I just wanted to get out of there. At this point I was hangry, upset, and have lost my appetite.
And finally, I just want to say their price tag is RIDICULOUS for their heavily diluted but salty broth, and their HORRIBLE SERVICE. Save a few dollar and just go to any other Vietnamese restaurants with a real viet name as their restaurant to get a better service, and in most cases will have better...
Read moreI would like to say that the experience at this restaurant was less than subpar. This review is long but I explain in detail why this place has lost its touch.
When I entered the restaurant the waiter stared blankly at me and asked eating in or takeaway. I was eating in and then he just went back to his tablet. He then just looked at me and said why haven't you taken a seat...questionable attitude.
I liked the idea of ordering food through an app but I question the point of paying straight away. When I got the food and drinks I quickly understood why...
We ordered chicken pho, chicken and rice plate and 2 viet coffees. Now for $16 each dish I would've expected alot more quality at least but unfortunately they clearly skimped out on both quality and quantity.
Chicken Pho The soup was bland. I had trouble tasting any flavour other than the spices when usually a good soup base should have the spicy and salty well rounded flavour. The lemon slices they provided were dry to the point that when I squeezed only flesh of the lemon came out. I thought to give them another chance and asked for more lemon slices and all 4 additional slices were worse than the first.
Chicken and rice I was confused when we received the plate as the veggies featured Green string beans and broccoli.. the veggies were overcooked to the point I felt like was eating a cheap TV roast dinner. The fried chicken was okay, not $16 okay but it was a welcome relief from the other dissapointments.
Vietnamese coffee I've had alot of Vietnamese coffee and it is meant to be a strong bold coffee flavour with sweetness to round it off but for some reason at this restaurant they put some sort of coconut syrup in the drinks. The drink was soo sweet I felt diabetes coming on and I became sick.
I've seen all the other stellar reviews and I am sorely dissapointed. This is not the place you want to go if you want Vietnamese food. Honestly there are lots of other places that serve better quality...
Read moreWalked up and down Marrickville road to look for an old school authentic Pho place but couldn't find one and tried to avoid the trendy modern Vietnamese restaurants as they are over priced and dumbed down.
It was raining so it left me with little choice but to give this place a shot since it seemed to specialise in 'Fuh'.
Ordered off the QR code and realised it was a bit overpriced but curiosity got the better of me and ordered a Combination Pho $21. Was expecting it to be a large for this price but needed to add $3 so I stuck to the regular to test the place out.
The wait was a little long as they prioritised takeaway orders first. The longer I waited, the less I expected and dreaded the worst since there were no sauces on the table and no plate of condiments brought after the order.
Log story short, the soup was sensational and one of the best ones in Sydney; rich and flavourSOME but could have been a little hotter. The rare beef was tender as was the brisket, the beef balls were good quality, the tripe was perfectly cooked as was the gelatinous tendon. The noodles were silky smooth. It still would have been good if they kept the beanshoots and basil on the side though.
If you want a good authentic Pho, this is the...
