Travelled about an hour to get here. The atmosphere is like a sports bar with giant screens playing sports. Pretty cool for sport fanatics, it isn't overly loud.
If you don't want to watch sports there are tables outside where it is quieter. Be warned if opting for the outside option, when the wind blows you'll be smelling sewage with your meal. I unfortunately had this pleasant occurrence.
Customer service was practically non-existant. You order at your table, the food comes and nobody checks on you, to make sure all is well. There isn't even a "hello" or "how was your meal."
Now the food - we ordered the boneless wings with Texas BBQ sauce, fried wings and onion rings. The boneless wings were so minuscule. How anyone can justify paying $20 dollars for 10 of those tiny chicken fingers/nuggets I have no idea. I cant even call them chicken tenders because they were so small. The taste was okay, they weren't really seasoned with much. So all flavour came with the sauce. Texas barbecue sauce was delicious.
The fried wings were massive. I ordered these with traditional sauce. The sauce didn't cover the amount of wings there were, it was like a few drops per wing. Taste of the wings were good. But again, without the sauce they're plain. The actual wings have no seasoning, just a buttermilk coating.
The onion rings were fantastic, especially when dipping in the honey mustard and Texas bbq sauce.
Avoid blue cheese dressing. It does not taste good at all. I've lived in the US and it is not comparable to any US blue cheese dressing.
Ranch was fantastic. I absolutely loved the ranch. I just wanted to douse my wings in that yummy ranch dressing. But having wings with barely any hot sauce, ruined my experience. Yes I could have easily paid an additional $3 for extra hot sauce. But when you order wings they are usually tossed and coated in hot sauce. This place puts the sauce separately. I don't like this idea, because half my wings had no sauce, so I was just dipping buttermilk coated wings in ranch, it wasn't appealing.
My takeaway from this restaurant, they have the foundations to be great.
Wings should come premixed with sauce or more sauce should be given with those giant buttermilk coated wings. Tenders should be bigger. Blue cheese definitely needs improvement. Waitresses and waiters should still come around to tables to see how they are. If theyre working on the sewer lines, move tables inside, so people aren't forced to eat their food with the smell of sewage.
I'm on the fence about this restaurant, because it did have some highlights, but I don't know if theyre enough to bring me back...
Read moreIf you're looking for a culinary adventure in disappointment, Winghaus is the place to be! We have been getting mad into wings lately and started with high hopes, but it turns out they specialize in serving up letdowns over touchdowns.
First up, the wings. I’m not sure if they were auditioning for a role as toothpicks, but these wings were so dry and tiny that I almost asked for a magnifying glass and some lip balm. Seriously, I’ve seen more meat on a vegan’s plate.
Then there were the burgers—calling them sliders would be generous. They did accommodate my request to swap out the chips for a house salad, which is super appreciated. It actually felt like their was a bit of attention and care put into the sald which makes the rest of what was served quite disappointmenting.
And let’s not forget the pièce de résistance: the beer I wanted was sold out, so I decided to give a classic margarita on the rocks a chance. I was expecting a refreshing, citrusy drink, but what I got tasted like a tropical mishap—mango from a tap, anyone? It was as if the bartender thought, “Let’s make this a margarita... but make it weird.” (TBF I don't blame the bartender as they serve what they are told to serve)
All in all, Winghaus nailed it—if "nailed it" means falling short in every possible way. Tiny wings, overpriced micro-burgers, unbalanced speakers for watching sport and a margarita that was more mango than magic. I left disappointed, but at least I have a funny story to tell. Maybe I’ll come back… for a laugh,...
Read moreI recently visited Winghaus for lunch with a few colleagues, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience for a third time in a row. I ordered a chicken schnitzel and a Coke Zero but after waiting for 20 minutes with no drink I had to ask where my drink was. All the while, I could see the manager behind the bar on her phone behind instead of serving drinks and attending customers.
While everyone at my table received their meals, I continued waiting for mine. I approached the manager behind the bar to ask about my order. Rather than offering an apology or acknowledging the delay, she lies to my face and says my food is still on its way. After another 10-minute wait my meal finally arrived.
A little tip for the manager at the bar, you should stay off your phone less and attend your customers. This isn't the first time my group and I have had a negative interaction with this manager, she comes across as condescending, rude, and unwilling to take responsibility for mistakes.
As for the food, the chicken schnitzel tasted like frozen, pre-made food rather than a freshly prepared meal. To top it off, the app automatically adds a 5% tip, which feels unwarranted given the lacklustre service and food quality. I would avoid this place...
