A group of 5 for a casual last minute Friday lunch. The only restaurant with tables (and more than half of the restaurant from our observation) available for 1:15pm last minute booking. We had doubt but decided to go with it since there were no other options.
Staff were extremely unprofessional. Mixed up order for our table and the table next to ours. When one of us told them the dish presented to her was not what she order, we got "No, you guys ordered 4 steak and 1 duck and this is yours". He managed to get that 1 duck order for our table wrong. I usually do not mind when orders are mixed up especially for a busy day like Friday, but his attitude was simply disgusting and unprofessional - he was not even busy but spent half the time we were at the restaurant standing around talking to his team! He should be removed from the floor or a customer facing role. One of the most unprofessional hospitality staff I have come across.
Food wise, none of ours were made to how we wanted it. Worst one was mine. Wanted my steak served medium. Came out well done, dry and cold clearly due to a long wait, even though again - the restaurant was more than half empty! The hand cut chips were simply cutting a whole potato in quarters, with absolutely no seasoning or flavours.
Throughout the whole lunch, the girl who looked after our table did not check once if our food was alright. Basically stormed in and out with a look/mood like all the customers in the restaurant should not be there and doing her job is the last thing she wanted to. She did not check with us if our food was poorly cooked when I only had a quarter of my steak and barely touched the potato towards the end of our lunch. Only inquired us after I asked for the bill twice.
Completely understood why it was the only restaurants with table available on a Friday in a busy precinct like Barangaroo when all other restaurants were fully booked until 2:30pm.
Food and view wise, I will definitely recommend Nola Smokehouse over 12-Micron. Service wise, any other restaurants in Barangaroo know how to do a better and more professional than 12-Micron. Seriously don't bother with...
Read moreSo I went to 12-Micron on Saturday with an open mind after reading the reviews. This place has terrible service, their staff needs to be trained better. Like what's the point of having a dozen staff on the floor for a Saturday dinner session if 3 of them are just going to stand around at the machine up against a wall with their backs to the customers majority of the 2.5hr session I was there. So we were seated quickly as we had made reservations. One minute after we were handed our menu the staff wanted to take our order. We ordered a cocktail and dishes off the al la carte menu. The tables around us then got bread and butter which we never received, but we thought that was because we didnt order the set menu. When our entree came out it was well presented but average in taste. By this time my cocktail had still not arrived yet. When our main arrived I noticed the table next to us had ordered entree and then the same main as mine, which made me question how come they got bread and butter but we didn't? My partner ordered the steak which was average so we didn't take a photo of it. We then had the 5 course dessert tasting platter of which 2 was decent which is the peanut butter one and the coconut rough one. Other than that the other 3 weren't that great. Never did the staff check on us if we needed anything more, my cocktail never arrived and we never got our bread and butter like everyone else. Also they had theit shutters closed at 6pm and decided to open it up at almost 8pm, so no view majority of the time. All of this made my experience unpleasant at 12-Micron and I would recommend for people to take their money elsewhere to have a better meal...
Read moreWe went back to micron-12 after having gone a year ago which was an amazing experience and was a little let down with our second experience to be honest. We spontaneously went the the day after our wedding to celebrate getting married with a fancy dessert date as we were back in Sydney from overseas. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was almost empty we were told we could only be seated in the bar. We asked if there was any possibility we could be moved to a table so that we could be facing each other but were told it was too busy for the one waiter to deal with, even though there were only 2 tables seated in the restaurant. This was a real shame, as it was really awkward to eat a dessert in the bar and just wanted to have a face to face meal given we had just gotten married. I feel like a restaurant of this calibre should be able to deal with a walk in of 2. It was also freezing cold we couldn't take our winter jackets off the whole time.We were really let down by this experience even though the waiter was really kind and friendly. Another shame is that the concept of the dessert menu seems to have changed, last year we were blown away by the concept of just choosing a flavour and being surprised by the ingredients and texture of the dessert ie. the Gin and Tonic. The new dessert menu still had unique flavour combinations but the surprise element was completely gone and the flavour combo werent as strong or well pulled off. The best bit of the Pyengana cheddar, milk chocolate, plum, honeycomb dessert was the honeycomb, the flavour of plum and milk chocolate was completely overpowered by...
