Epic wings, good beers, great vibe. The way they make their wings reminds me of Wingstop from back home in the USA - this is a serious compliment if you know your wings.
So, if you aren't familiar, a primer on American chicken wings or "Buffalo wings". The classic, default "buffalo sauce" is a vinegary chilli sauce that has some butter in it, giving it that distinctive buffalo sauce taste (think Frank's Red Hot sauce). Usually they are fried, typically without batter. Many additional sauces are available today; typically there are spicy sauces of varying levels, bbq sauce, some sort of honey mustard sauce, some vaguely "asian/hawaiian" sauce, and so on.
By the time you are served your wings at most places, they often are not super crispy. This is not the case at WingMill: when you get your wings they are beautifully crispy while still being well coated in sauce post-frying. Seriously these wings are the bomb. Every time I bite into one, savouring that mixture of sauce, crisp, and juicy chicken I am brought back to memories of Wingstop back in Cali. Well well done.
The owner is also a great guy and fun to chat with. Super happy to have this place in Neutral Bay.
Wing flavour ratings S tier: Cajun - basically is like the regular buffalo one, but better. why not? A tier: Regular buffalo - a fantastic rendition of a classic. B tier: BBQ - these are alright but tbh the bbq sauce feels a bit generic and like it is missing something. Maybe a bit of extra smoke or spice would really amp it up? C tier: Lemon pepper - I tried these once and was a bit sad. I mean they were still good, but after being wowed by the cajun I was expecting better. I feel like they were lacking in "oomph" - not salty or sour enough. I'm maybe being a little harsh here cause I am comparing vs the Wingstop Lemon Pepper wings which are absurdly addictive.
...And I haven't tried any others. I always just get cajun and buffalo. Boring I know, but I am HOOKED.
All in all if you want American chicken wings, this is probably the best place to go in Australia. That reminds me, I should probably go pick...
Read moreGreat little American bar - with plenty of wing options, smashed burgers and quite a few beers to choose from. One of the best places for American food on the Northshore.
Staff: Amazing hospitality. Always very friendly, helpful and polite. Super helpful.
Beverage choice: From beers to spirits, there is a great selection to choose from!
Food: Food here is GREAT. Wing selection is awesome, from dry rubs to original buffalo wings. We had the original and the lemon pepper and they were delicious. Tator tots (potato gems) were super crispy and the apple coleslaw was very tasty with fresh ingredients. I’ve not had the smashed burgers, but have friends who have said they are awesome. Overall, the food here is great.
Pricing: Very reasonable prices for this area of Sydney!!!
Atmosphere: Relaxed and pretty laid back.
COVID-19: This place practices safe COVIDSafe polices and procedures and are very attentive to ensuring they and everyone is doing the right thing. From sign in to delayed of building we felt safe. Wish more places practiced this level of professionalism. Well done!!!
This is a rare 10-out-of-10, with amazing service and food to match. If you are in the area -or not- this place is worth visiting. You won’t be...
Read moreHankering for authentic chook-wings done ala California style is a lifelong addiction, an almost mission impossible in Oz. So when this eatery boasted "The Best American Chicken Wings", your intrepid volunteer fronted and tested this claim. The femme and I were greeted by the jovial Ahmed who swallowed whole my mock Louisiana patois with passion and good humour. When quizzed as to why five reviews gave his establishment five stars, he intoned proudly, " Try and see what its like". Bluegrass playing in the background and feint chilli notes in the air we plonk ourselves alfresco and check out the menu. There are eight choices of wings as well as, loaded fries, frickles, salads, burgers and desserts. Root beers and plenty on tap seem the go. We plump for the Buffelo wings combo and Hot Hot, short circuiting the the overindulgence in oil by adding a veggie, cauliflower coated with Cajun seasoning and Sriracha mayo. The wings are the small variety, not experienced locally, deep fried and wearing a coat of hot sauce & blue cheese dressing on the side. This is the real deal, the real maco soothing, tempting and eminently satisfying. The femme and I are in love, with the creative juices on offer by...
