SoCal Sydney — Restaurant in Sydney

Went to SoCal today around 5pm, I asked if there was a table outside for 1 person, they said no and offered to be at the bar outside or inside, I first said yes for the outside bar and realised it was very uncomfortable, 1st no menu was offered to me for at least 10 minutes, I had to ask for one when the waiter came to ask me what I wanted to drink, then no cutlery/paper towel was provided, no water was offered… the worst thing is that the outside bar is very uncomfortable because it is really high (maybe consider that not everyone is tall …) I asked to be at a table as some tables outside weren’t occupied yet, they offered me to be at the bar inside, I said fine so I sat at the bar and it was uncomfortable as well, people at the back standing up in my back and talking so loud, the table at the bar is very narrow so basically I was almost eating above the cocktails that were getting prepared for other customers, no one had the decency to bring cutlery whether it was inside or outside ( only a spoon provided with the Ceviche … (I had to go grab a fork and a knife from an empty table outside) and ask for barmaid to give me paper towels… I wanted to order more as the food was good (but not amazing) but I was not happy enough yo give them more money so I decided to left … I know it’s the weekend but every customer counts even if it’s just 1 pax ! I was very disappointed… I had a better experience before at soCal going by myself and with my partner, but it was never at a busy time … so service isn’t consistent… the food arrived...

I recently visited SoCal Sydney, a Mexican restaurant that left me absolutely impressed! From the moment I walked upstairs, I was greeted by the vibrant decor, colourful lighting & music. The perfect setting for a fun night out with friends or a cozy dinner with your partner, especially sitting out in the rooftop garden.

As I sat down at the table our group had reserved, I couldn't help but notice the amazing range of food & drinks on offer. The staff was quick to recommend some of their signature cocktails, and I must say they did not disappoint! The drinks were not only visually stunning but tasted absolutely amazing.

Our favourites were the Mezcal Margarita & the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini!

Now, let's talk about the food. The menu was diverse and catered to all dietary requirements. I decided to try the tacos and was blown away by the flavours! The meat was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were fresh and complimented the dish perfectly.

Despite the restaurant being quite busy at the time of our visit, the staff remained friendly and attentive, while waiting for a cocktail for a lengthy amount of time, We were even comped with the drink being free to make up for the wait time, which was a lovely gesture.

Overall, I had an incredible experience at SoCal Sydney and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great night out. I've also got some photos of the establishment that I'll be sure to post - the decor is definitely...

From decor, atmosphere and service to cocktails and food - everything was great. Organised a little catch up with my friend today and both of us left happy and satisfied. Unlike other places who serve a microscopic portion of guac alongside an overbearing amount of chips, SoCal delivered the perfect ratio. The cheese and mushroom quesadilla was delicious, admittedly smaller than expected but ultimately just right since we wanted to order multiple items to share. The roasted eggplant with the warm, soft tortilla add on took the cake. It's served on peanut salsa macha. First time ever that I tried this and it was absolutely delicious and a must-try. It prove that roasted eggplant doesn't have to be boring. All the dishes were full of flavour and paired perfectly with a Margarita. The service was attentive and friendly and all questions regarding level of spiciness were adequately answered. This is a great location for a relaxed summer evening get together. I will be back to try more!:)

Update May 2024: I came here last night with my friend for taco tuesday. $4 tacos and $15 margs- What a great deal? All tacos we had were delicious and had a big decent amount of juicy filling. The churros are a perfect way to end the night! Despite being busy, the wait time for food and drinks was minimal. The service was just as good as the first time and we will definitely be back! I personally loved the vege taco options. Many places usually have 1 vege and one fish taco. SoCal even has a vegan option that's absolutely...
