Wok Master Maroubra — Restaurant in Sydney

I was really hopeful about dining at this restaurant i have been for the past 5 years, but my experience was nothing short of disappointing. the service completely soured my appetite.

When I approached the counter to place my order, an elder female employee seemed annoyed with my questions about the menu. I was simply trying to clarify some details about a dish I was interested in, and instead of helping, she corrected me on something I was actually right about. It felt belittling, and I went from feeling excited to just confused and frustrated. (boneless honey chicken with rice. She says honey chicken rice is exactly the same as boneless honey chicken rice. i was simply reading the menu item as it stated.)

As I stood there waiting, it became even more apparent how low a priority I was. The same employee abruptly turned her attention to a customer who had just stepped up behind me in line. She started taking their order while I was still standing there, completely ignored. I couldn’t believe it. It felt so dismissive, and I was left standing there feeling like an afterthought.

Overall, the lack of attention and respect I received from the staff overshadowed any potential enjoyment of my meal. I regret even ordering anything and too bad I had already paid (additional card surcharge but she didn't mention and hid the total from view), I can say with certainty that I won’t be returning. Situated at Pacific Square Maroubra, this little eatery could pass as an outdoor street restaurant. I quite liked it!

You know the food is good if patrons are mostly Asian. I had a simple meal of roasted duck on rice with bok choy 🥬 for $18, with a side of soy chilli 🌶️ sauce. And a pot of Chinese tea.

My neighbours were eating lobster which wasn’t on the menu. They bought the crustacean from the fish market inside the mall and paid a small fee to have it cooked on the premises. Impressive!

Something to consider next time I dine here.

Went to this place and order simple steam chicken, they just need to cut. That's it. Paid and wait at the table more then 20min. In the meantime 2 others table came after me and eat already. No one of the staff came to me to ask if I need some water or what I was waiting for, then I asked and they put my chicken as take away without any number. So if I wouldn't ask I might still waiting now.. lol One of the staff said the girl made a mistake and the price for take away was different so that's mean I should pay extra for that, I got very upset.
