I will never ever ever ever order or go back to this restaurant ever again and I will never recommend it to anyone EVER. I could only take 2 bites of my Crab Omelette because it was absolutly disgusting and swiming in oil. It was like eating half melted butter with some sort of watery substance mixed in and then garnished with canned crab. The back of my throat and mouth was covered in oil which was not pleasant and extreamly unsettling to the point where I couldn't keep those two bites in my stomach. The biggest let down was the Sesame Prawn Toast which is normaly a crowd pleaser at every chinese resturnat I've visited. Their's had absolutely no taste only an oily mashed up prawn texture with sesame seeds on top of soggy oily bread, personally I've never eaten a prawn which has tasted like nothing! I asked for a refund and was given a stern no, wow shocking didn't see that one coming. Dont spend your money at Ying Wah save it and find a much more delicious Chinese restaurant in the city which is only a 30...
Read moreHave been ordering takeaway from Ying Wah for years up until 30/1/18. The fried rice was absolutely tasteless. The beef and vegetables was watery and very bland, more like slices of boiled beef in water with vegetables. Honestly, it was horrible and certainly didn’t taste like the usual beef and vegetables we order. We took the meal back to the restaurant as we couldn't eat it and suggested they try it. We were sure it was a different cook and we asked. The hostess told us the usual cook was away. Regardless, meals should be of the same standard and quality. I've never felt the need to criticize a meal until now. Had they apologized and offered a replacement/complementary meal when their chef returned and put steps in place to not have this happen again I would hold off writing this review. We left our phone number but no call to date. Please improve your customer service and if your chef is absent ensure you have someone who can cook to the same standard. I certainly wouldn’t recommend Ying Wah after...
Read moreYing Wah is awesome. Old-school Chinese restaurant that is packed with people every night. It is very very basic inside, the decor hasn't changed since the eighties, but nor has the level of service. They are efficient, and frinedly and always get your order right - which doesn't always happen in chinese restaurants.
My just love their liberal BYO policy. You can bring anything: beer, wine, spirits... I even saw an old fella bring in his own bottle of Ginger-ale and the staff ran with it! Other tables brought entire eskies and sat it next to their table and settled in.
My favourite part - without a doubt - is that if you bring a bottle of beer in - they will go get you a frozen glass to serve it in. Perfect!
The food is good, not super gourmet - but pretty good. You wouldn't come here on a first date, but its a lot of fun if your looking for...
