We got here closer to closing time on Wednesday. We took a 45 minute drive as we'd heard raves about this little donut shop, still had plenty of variety. First impressions are everything, upon entry it was clean, tidy, very modern on the main Street of Tanunda. A really good location with such a good vibe. We ordered 4 donuts and 2 drinks. Vanilla bean, Raspberry Jam and, Cookies & Cream. Upon feeling the donut it is super soft, sugary and smells super fresh as they're made in house. First try was the Raspberry Jam donut, I can't fault the donut itself, I personally think it is definitely an acquired taste with this Jam, I think there needs to be more donut rather than filling however, I believe they're still spectacular and, I can 100% see other people enjoying the Raspberry Jam donut, this donut just wasn't for me. Next try was the cookies and cream and, Vanilla Bean curd. Loved these! Super sweet but, glamorous. This place definitely lives up to the name of the best donuts, I mean, if they aren't titled that, I'd definitely give them that title! If you're in the area or, not take the drive or stop by this little shop! You'll be greeted with a smile and, some tasty donuts! Just remember though, not every donut will be your acquired taste.... doesn't mean it's bad quality or, bad donuts.... its just not for YOU! I'd highly recommend this little business and, think the variety is on another level. I will be back. Thank...
Read moreI heard about Browns Barossa Donuts from a friend in Adelaide, she said they were recently awarded the best donut in SA and they make brioche donuts, so I specifically took a trip out to Tanunda in the Barossa Valley. I couldn't decide which one to have so I purchased a sample box of mini donuts (what a great option to have), I also bought a 6 pack for another friend back in Adelaide. These donuts are delicious, they're not too oily, they are soft and fluffy, and they're literally bursting with delicious filling.
I had a chance to chat with Rachel (one of the owners) whilst in the store and you can tell she was completely passionate about what they do, she told me how the donuts are all made in-house including the filling. As an example they sourced the recipe of the raspberry jam from a local award winner and used that as the basis of their jam.
It's definitely worth the drive up from Adelaide, and if you were heading into the Barossa anyway then this is a no brainer. Just make sure you check their opening hours as they are open 4 days a week, also they do often sell out (from the lady at the Barossa information center) so don't wait until the...
Read moreIf you love hand-crafted sweetness made with love, this place is for you! Stopped here twice during a week long Barossa trip and were not disappointed. Brilliant donuts, fresh and incredible fillings - we had the plain, Raspberry jam (their home made recipe and just the right amount of tartness), Lemon curd (also smooth and deliciously tasty), Pistachio Papi cheesecake, lemon cheesecake, espresso coffee cream, vanilla bean custard and the brownie donut with a brilliant brownie in it! They were all very different and all delicious! As you can see, we tried a few of them! Super smiley friendly staff doing some great work too. The place isn't big and if you don't get there early you may miss out! A queue of people out the door is a sign of a great place! Trading hours are listed on their door as they are not open all day - I have seen negative reviews based on that which is zero reason to bag a place out because they're not open when you want them to be. My only regret? Not trying ALL...
