Congratulations Banjos St Helens, you have the distinction of being the ONLY business in Tassie who treated us horrendously in our two years in this country. It didn’t matter to your incredibly rude staff that one of us was visibly pregnant and there were 3 kids under the age of ten with us. Cuss words and F bombs were dropped with impunity, thankfully not directly at us but loud enough for every customer in your store and our kids to hear them. We were three couples, with one kid each. Before entering the store at 5:35PM, we asked the girl stacking the outdoor furniture if the store was open. She was literally banging the furniture and had a scowl on her face. She confirmed they are open and will shut at 6:00PM. The attitude of this staff member #1 should have made us stop right there but it is our fault that we still entered your premises because the kids were hungry.

  1. Upon entering, when one of us took a seat, staff member #1 told us to vacate the seat as that side of the restaurant was already cleaned. We complied. The message was delivered to us in an extremely unfriendly tone with no courtesy. Not a problem.

  2. The first couple in our group ordered vegetable rolls as part of the order, but was almost served meat based savory rolls by staff member#2 who was apparently new. She was friendly and polite. Not a problem.

  3. The second couple ordered a chicken sandwich but was served ham instead. Noticed before eating and this was readily replaced by the rude staff member #1 with no mention of any apology or a smile on her face. Not a problem.

  4. We could hear the staff fighting in the kitchen. Expletive laden language was free flowing. Not our concern. Not a problem.

  5. While we eating, we got insolent stares from staff member #1 and #3. We do not know why this would happen because we were very polite throughout our time in the store and complied with their instructions. Not a problem.

  6. At 5:59PM we heard the staff say loudly, “One minute to close”. We immediately got up and walked out because of the uncomfortable environment your staff had created. I said “Thank you” before leaving. However, the couple with the pregnant mother took 2 minutes, and this is 2 minutes by the clock and not figuratively speaking, to pack her things. This 2 minute delay generated some very offensive and unacceptable response from one of your staff wherein she walked up to the table clapping her hands saying “out” “out” to our friend’s face. This IS a problem.

We would like to understand if this is your normal and standard procedure to shoo customers away, or do you reserve this treatment for patrons with darker skin? Because we cannot think of any other trigger here, except that we look different.

Either way we won’t let this ugly episode shake our trust in Australian values. The kids that were with us, will grow up here and will go to school here. I can promise you they will imbibe values that will be better than the ones displayed by your staff today.

It might also help you if you stop taking orders minutes before you lock the doors and decide to throw the customers out.

We understand that a couple of hundred dollars in lost revenue isn’t going to ding Banjos one bit, but for the sake of our own sanity we shall not be seeing the inside of any Banjos store...

Although my expectations weren't high I was appalled by the behavior of the barista yesterday. We ordered items from the display, a coffee and a toasted sanwich. Everything was delivered and consumed when my asked after the coffee. It was coming. A few minutes later we asked again as the single barista was chatting with youg prople only to be grumpoky told she had three others to make . Some minutes later, the completed coffee was not notified using the buzzer but by a very quiet call. As we were keen to go we asked that our dine in coffee be may takeaway snd the barista again complained that she was very busy and we should have told her first. I was astounded. Certainly sometimes businesses and people get unexpectedly busy

, but the shop wasnt very busy, the staff were obviously not working as a team to deliver a service or someone would have been assisting tha barista. And if there is a shift manager then they obviously have no idea about customer service. Bad service happens and recognizing that and advising or apologizing to the customer on behalf of the business is required. Not being made to feel guilty that you ate msking staff busy. No wonder the other local bakery...

Vegan here. They had vegan rolls in the case. When I asked if they had anything else the woman apologized, shaking her head and saying no. Another worker (manager?) overheard and signaled me to wait. She came back after talking to the cook and said they could make a veggie sandwich with beet root, carrot, lettuce and tomato, would that be okay. I was so happy! Then the cook came over and asked what kind of roll I'd like the sandwich on and gave me several choices. I picked the multigrain. This sandwich was EVERYTHING! Thank you so much for taking such good care of me and making sure I was fed!!!! I was so hungry I forgot to take a pic but believe me when I tell you this sandwich was full and did not disappoint! Thank you to the people who cared enough to make sure I had good food to eat! I also bought vegan veggie rolls out of the case and they were delicious!!! A flat white oat completed my meal and that was...

First time at Banjos on our first day in Tassie. Glad we dropped by and stocked up. We first checked out the St Helens bakery, Pie Face and then came back to Banjos as their food looked the most appetising. Delicious pies with decent chunks of beef. We bought a beef, egg & bacon pie and a beef & mushroom pie. Both excellent and really delicious! Pastry was crispy, well cooked and just the right thickness. Enjoyed the pies tremendously with our lunch of oysters from Lease 65 and freshly made salad from the local IGA. Also bought some date scones, blueberry and raspberry tarts and vanilla slice. We'll be keeping some for our trek at Cradle Mountain tomorrow. Perfect for our holiday in Tassie. Thank you again to the gentleman who served us, and thank you for the yummy food!😋

Asked for a EGG and bacon pie, the woman at the counter said they don't have any. I could see the whole top shelf was full of them but maybe I said the wrong thing so I asked for a EGG and ham pie. She said they don't exist. She said they have cheese and bacon MEAT pie. I knew that wasn't what I asked for but I didn't feel like having an argument. P.S. wanted to sit next to the window but there was a full layer of pie crust on the still. It was only 7am. A very strange experience.

Terrific - best bakery in the area. We were staying in Falmouth, and despite being greeted by a spectacular sunrise, we quickly realized that the disadvantage of our isolationist living was no decent coffee nearby! But not disheartened we headed to the Banjo's Bakery for our mandatory cappuccinos (extra hot) and Vanilla slice. Delicious. Terrific service; friendly staff; a good start for the day. Now off to the Bay of Fires ......
