Happy with dinner and dessert from here. We thought it was cheap (though we are city folk) and happy with the meals. Lamb shank fell off the bone so have to be happy with that. Really does have the old RSL look going for it, but still was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was.

Absolute trash, do not recommend, rip off bastards. Paid $40 for a steak and chips expecting something nice as it was $40 and ended up receiving the quality of a $20 pub steak. The gravy was cheap Maggie branded gravy, the steak was bland and dry and there was only a handful of chips.

We frequent the RSL club often only so many chances I will give and We will not be wasting our money again at the club.

Saturday night a group of 4 came in for tea Wasn’t overly busy but we waited near an hour for our meals When the meals came out 2 serves of battered scallops were burnt, oily just absolutely disgusting we did receive our money back on these 2 meals Bangers and mash portion size was 2 sausages and a small portion of watery mash potato with gravy of some description Curried scallops with a watery mash which I left on my plate This wasn’t just our concern at the club but others were complaining about meals plus leaving without finishing meals due to them not being able to eat it

A group of people walked in at 7.45pm walked over to see if they were open most likely due to the roller being half way shut and must have been turned away as they walked out after speaking with the male cook

What I seen was burnt pizzas and other meals still on tables before I left myself noting that the female cook was then sitting at the bar drinking an alcoholic beverage at 7.50pm

I thought the kitchen closed at 8pm shouldn’t last orders be taken at 8pm and then roller shut

Staff in the kitchen were just standing around talking rather than working for at least half an hour Staff in the bar were eating and using a tea towel to wipe nose and mouth then serving then going back to eating

I do not recommend eating here until the place has new kitchen staff that...

Disgusting meal at St Helens RSL we waited 50 min for grilled fish we asked if it was fresh and was told yes we paid $52 for 2 people tonight 1/2/17 our meal finally arrived after asking twice to be told it's on the grill !!! Finally our plate arrived the worst salad that had wilted , Ling fish was suppose to be fresh !!?!? Certainly not grilled cheese X 2 pieces that was rock hard dried out with many chips some had been re cooked many times we had asked for min chips only When I did speak to the server she then went in to the women that was cooking and we could see they had no intention of even offering us another salad ,, the reply was our salads are made up early in the day ,,,, hello 7 pm at night is a long time for salad to be edible We left saying I'm gong to write a review on this terrible experience and the blonde female waiter gave us a verbal we left We would not recommend this food over priced as well to anyone We have travelled all over Australia and the world we both agree the food was terrible let alone the...

My wife and I are on a motoring holiday around Tasmania. I am a Veteran of over 20years, having served operationally in East Timor, Solomon's and Afghanistan. I'm a lifetime member of the RSL and always look forward to visiting country RSL's for mateship and unity etc. The St Helens RSL is a dud, very dismal and poor surroundings with no service with rude and obnoxious patrons. With no where to sit down for a drink and have dinner, we found ourselves standing near the billiard table, being stared at by the other patrons, 3 of which were stupefied old men at the bar who kept staring and making boorish and rude comments at our expense. Upon realising that our business and my service to this Country wasn't appreciated and mocked, we left. If you're a Veteran, don't bother with this place. It's basically an old person's home with a bar, full of sour old drunks...
